Very beautiful set, had been wanting these for quite a while. Came very well packaged. The set is very light but sturdy with a fun pattern to mix and match with other tableware.

Not good for food.
These are pretty but the plates are flat. Food rolls off the edges always.

It's pretty but the plates are almost flat
It's pretty but the plates are almost flat... there is hardly a difference in the plate to rim ratio... if you put a pea on the plate it would roll right off... but if that doesn't bother you then they are great looking plates!!

SUPERB!
These are so fun and festive! Another reviewer did not like the "flatness" of these plates but that is my favorite thing about them! I love how you can set utensils or bread on the side of your plate and it stays there without flopping over into your food....a very unique and pleasing to the eye design. My decor is modern and I was drawn to the dot and stripe pattern. I previously had black gloss dishes in stoneware and wanted a pretty set of everyday china...this fit the bill perfectly. I was just about to get an all-white set when I saw the Cheers. I immediately loved the look and was not disappointed in person. The bowls are nice and deep and the mugs are very comfortable. I plan to add the square salad plates.UPDATE 1/28/2019 - I wrote the above review in 2012 when I first bought my china. I am now giving it to Goodwill and I am going to replace it with Corelle by Corning, which I had recieved in 1976 s as a wedding gift and they still looked brand new when I updated my kitchen and decor in 1986.I am very, very disappointed in the longevity of the Mikasa. About 18 months ago, I started to notice "swirling" in the dishes of carnival colors. Some of my plates have darkened and I don't know WHAT caused that. They appear to be "filmy" looking and the finish feels funny. It's not nice and smooth and glassy anymore.I have not written Mikasa yet but I need to take some pictures and then I will contact them. I feel that for the price and the Mikasa name, these dishes should have presented very well for 12-15 years. As I said, I received a set of Corelle dishes in 1976 in the Spring Blossom pattern (green). In the mid 80s, when I updated to a blue/peach color scheme in my kitchen, I gave them away and they still looked brand new.I cannot recommend these dishes at this price.

Pretty, but not great for the dishwasher.
We've owned these for five years and the design has faded. Also, the white part is stained. There are just two of us and we have a service for eight, so they should still look nice. Not very high quality. Spend the extra money and buy Lenox. We've had a set of that for 39 years that still looks new. Dated, but new.

Odd design
The plates are very flat. I know this seems silly, but it is a serious downside to this set. Rather than be functional, they tried to be stylish and produced plates with a very shallow middle section and a rim that, if anything, tilts slightly down as you move towards the edge of the plate. There is nothing to discourage food from sliding off of your plate as you walk to/from the table. Many pieces of toast (especially slippery) have found their way to the floor when I turn away from the counter. This isn't a reason to not buy the settings if you like the design but it is annoying. I've had them for almost 2 months now and I still drop things in the morning when I'm groggy. You shouldn't have to think about your plates...The product quality isn't what you'd expect. We purchased 8 place settings and some of the pieces have uneven patterns which you'd think would be consistent from piece to piece. The bowls are excellent. Not the shallow, nearly useless bowls you see in many current sets. The cups are also... well they're cups.Of the 8 sets we ordered, 3 came with a broken bowl due to inadequate packaging by Amazon. HOWEVER, upon receiving our complaint, Amazon sent us replacement sets instantly without asking for pictures or even requiring a return which means we actually have 11 of everything except small plates (1 broke in transit) and bowls.
