Bacterial Vaginosis Treatment - BV Balance Activ Gel - 7 Tube Box

I was opposed to trying gels because of the water content, but I saw that it was specifically formulated to be a 3.8 pH level and after using it twice and testing my pH with a strip, I have found that to be correct. I have tried their “pessary“/suppository, and have noticed that it has the same effect of completely neutralizing all odor. The gel is a bit more “hydrating” and cleansing and while the suppository is definitely moisturizing and did lower my pH a bit, the suppository was more effective at that. The pH strip was lighter after one use compared to the color it is when I use the suppository. The first time I used it I thought the length of the applicator was a bit short and the tip is a bit pointy but the overall feel of the packaging is very smooth and sleek. The second time i used it, because I was so moisturized and lubricated from using it the previous night, I had absolutely no problem with insertion. This is good for virgins. With the first use, as it leaked out while I was in bed, I noticed the slightest burning sensation. It was more of a tingle, but it went away really quickly and after I stopped leaking and it was all out, nothing felt odd. I lightly cleaned myself and everything felt normal. The second time I use this, I made sure to not only insert it deeper, but I folded the base of the product in half while it was still inside so I can make sure I got everything in there while sliding my fingers from the base of it to my body like it was a sauce packet. I also made sure to use it right before I fell asleep to get the most from this product by making sure the solution is in contact and inside my body for as long as possible. When I woke up and checked my pH level, it was slightly lighter than the first time I used it. Also, because I kept it in for so long without any premature leakage it actually acted like a cleanser even more than before since I really feel like it was able to sink a bit further in and while i was on the toilet it slowly grabbed everything along my walls and carried it out. it’s literally a pH lowering cleanser. I’m going to stock up on this. I’ll use it right after my period (since it is more viscous than the solid suppositories I use) as a more effective way to cleanse the vagina faster than discharge does when my cycle ends (the pH of blood is too high). Then I’ll use vitamin C and probiotic suppositories 1-3 times a week. I have only had BV once, months ago, and I don’t want to get it again. Since then I’ve been checking my pH regularly and this has definitely helped at lowering it, keeping it low, and completely neutralizing odors. It’s like boric acid but healthier for you and your pH. You can smell the gel after it leaves you body and it will smell like water. You will literally have no smell right after using this. I hope this product becomes more popular in America. I first bought it from the seller “The Station Approach UK” and the packaging was intact and clean. I bought 3 more from a different seller and the packaging as shown in later photos is either crushed or dirty. None were completely open though. The product from The Station Approach UK was newer as it had an expiration date that was a month later than what I received from the other seller.

After suffering every month, at 22 years old, after my period with 2 weeks of fish smell each month that I could smell through my clothes (I had no other Bv symptoms such as itch, just a HORRIBLE smell) for a year now, I have finally found something that takes it away after just 2 days. BV sufferers, we know we are clean. I have spend DAYS researching why I have fish smell feeling depressed and having to explain to my boyfriend of 7 years that I could not figure out why I am all of the sudden suffering from this. I stopped wanting to have sex because both of us noticed and also because the metrogel and antibiotics I was being prescribed MONTHLY for diagnosed Bacterial Vaginosis made me feel sick and only was temporary relief as it always would come back. Things that have changed my life: using this gel towards the end of my period and now will be using one or two a week if I have sex to balance out my vagina; only washing with warm water and PH balanced vagina wash(I recommend good clean love ph wash); NEVER douching; taking a specific daily probiotic for what your body is lacking; eating a cleaner diet with less sugar/processed foods and more water. I have already tried just about every other home therapy option with no success. The medicine I was, and thousands of other women, regularly doctor prescribed kills the bad bacteria AND the good. This Balace Activ gel lowers your ph and allows your vaginia to have an environment where the good bacteria can begin to thrive again and outnumber the bad. I don’t know why my body has changed to where I need this extra help, my guess would be fluctuations in hormones before and after my period after I got off hormonal birth control last year after using it since 15 years old. I wish more research was done about BV, but until then from what I have found for the little studies there are, antibiotics and metrogel are temporary fixes and most women have it reoccur....and a real solution is daily probiotics with strands matching those in the Vag biome (ex. Lactobactillios rhamnosus, look at azo brand’s feminine probiotic ingredients) , lower vaginal PH with lactic acid gels, and focusing on what your body needs to maintain healthy vaginal Ph so that good Bacteria remains dominant, all for long term care. I PRAY this makes it to the US. So many of us need it here and need to know about this. Spread the word! I ordered so many boxes to always have it on hand, I didn’t even care about the cost (which is not bad and is so much cheaper than the doctor every month). If you are not diagnosed BY A DOCTOR for BV, please do so first to ensure that it is not something else first that could need prescribed medication. OK do not read if have a weak stomach or can’t handle adult information, with that being said, coming from somebody who suffers from this quite a bit, I only seem to get it when my partner cums inside me, (trying to convince baby #) my body doesn’t like it and my ph level goes out of whack and I cannot seem to get under control unless I get an anabiotic even then that stuff only work sometimes I was really skeptical about ordering the stuff, but I am super glad I did. My BV was getting very thick and fishy smell. You could almost smell it through my clothes. ( disgusting I know) so here I am desperate to try something, ANYTHING to cure this awful thing. It took a while to ship but managed to make it with in two weeks, my partner started to notice I was becoming less sexually active than usual, I was discouraged because of the smell during sex I was afraid, so once I got the product I applied right away after cleaning myself first!! It’s almost like a cooling gel, kinda felt like relief in a bottle. Mainly because I always feel yucky down there, if you know what I mean, I’m telling you hours later my partner came home in the “mood” and I read someone else’s review saying that your partner would not notice, This stuff is odorless I have not experienced any burning or discomfort. this stuff is odorless. GRAPHIC REVIEW-Please, please do your research first. On second thought, to be honest, even if I were to have read the reviews, I was so desperate on trying an "alternative" that I would have still taken the chance, as I have been eyeing this gel for quite some time now. I am a woman who suffers from this every other cycle, so I got so tired of taking Metronidazole, that I decided to try the BV Activ Gel. It was very simple to use, but BOY OH BOY let me tell you. After almost two days, I started breaking out down there; swollen, red, it just did not look normal. All of this over the gel? I even scratched so much that my labia on both sides hardened and could hardly walk NORMAL.. :) I would even try sitz baths with Organic Apple Cider.. i had to stay home and literally place ice cubes down there; I cried because I just wanted to take a brush and scrub down there; so much itching, irritation, etc... I have never in my life of 41 years have such a bad reaction. It INDUCED a yeast infection; I have had them in the past before dont get me wrong, but it has been over 5-7 years and it usually goes away on its own anyways.. Not this one.. I have just gotten back from the ER and was given fluconazole; i take it every day for 3 days...She even gave me a refill which I probably will not use because I will never ever ever ever use this stuff again and as I said earlier, It is very seldom that I get yeast infections anyways. I read in one of the reviews this very same thing happened to another woman... I could hardly walk yesterday; I purchase AZO yeast pills and no relief for me, then 4 hours later I got the Monistat 1 Day kit with the cooling wipes and also the itching cream...It calmed down for a little while, but the next day I just wanted to buy a whole new vajay-jay! :( I was later told by the doctor in the ER that I should have used the 5 or 7 day Monistat as it is more effective than the 1 day complete kit? I spent over $40 for yeast infection meds and I am finally feeling better as this is day 1 of the fluconazole thanks to the prescription from the ER... This is not to put down the product, but this is my experience, and never again.. NOWAY!

I love the product but I wish it came in a better applicator. The applicator has a very thin little tube that you are to insert and it is easy to scratch or cut yourself with this tube. I have scratched myself twice now, and I am in pain at this moment as a result. I wish the product came in a large tube with a top that would thread onto a standard vaginal applicator that you can buy on Amazon. This would also make it easy to add acidophilus to the gel, which would make it almost a perfect product. I would also like to use more than what comes in their applicator, but not as much as two applicators. If the product came in a tube I could put as much as I want into a standard applicator. As it is I will have to put the product into another applicator before I use it which will waste a fair amount of the gel. That said, I think it works better than anything I have tried. It burns a little but I think that is because of the PH, which is part of what makes it work. Once again, for that reason it would be better to use a standard applicator which is longer and would make it easier to deposit most of the gel deep in the vagina, away from the sensitive urethra area. Their applicator is very short, barely long enough to get it past the muscle at the entrance to the vagina.Finally, their applicator contains some air and it is not safe to put air into your vagina as it can cause an air embolism stroke. So, great product, bad applicator.

I have struggled through perimenopause with frequent and persistent vaginal / vulvar infections. For a long time I was doing well with Luvena, then they changed the formula. I know they got a lot of bad feedback for that, so they might have changed it back or improved the new formula...not sure...because I found Balance Activ instead. It is half the price of USA store brands like Luvena and Rephresh, and achieves the same goal which is lowering vaginal PH. I have found that being armed with this product, an apple cider vinegar & water rinse in a squeeze bottle next to the toilet, and some PH strips gives me total empowerment to keep myself infection free at all times including after sex and during periods. There is no guesswork when you check your vaginal PH, which should be 3.5-5.5 . If the PH is too high, I can use acidic products such as Balance Activ to bring it down again, and recheck to make sure I succeeded. Balance Activ is great, especially at night when you lie down to go to bed because it is a bit runny / messy. I have used less runny / messy gels, and they all leave a tacky residue behind which IMO is pretty gross. I am very happy with Balance Activ because it is very affordable and effective, and leaves no nasty residue behind, It should be used at night, or a limited amount can be used in the daytime, especially with a maxi pad or panty liner. Well worth the mess to never worry about infections or struggle with medical tests and ineffective rx products.

So far, I can't say that I really like this product. It is extremely messy feeling and makes my whole "area" seem even more gross than how I already thought it felt. The gel is thin and yet sticky, it's honestly worse than a Monistat product. As a female, one of the most important aspects of your health is your reproductive health and having everything as it should be. When things are unbalanced and you are not feeling the best, you just want to get back to feeling "yourself" again as quickly as possible. This product does not help with that in the short-term by having a product that is not user-friendly. I do hope it is effective and that this feeling will improve. It should be noted that I am using my first "dose" during the daytime, as I have a pretty painful case and wanted to begin treatment immediately to get some relief...maybe that is half of the reason why I am having the experience I am, but in any case, I would not recommend it and will plan to use this at night going forward. The only other issue I have is with the packaging and the way the product needs to be "applied". There is a long tip that needs to be inserted before squeezing to release the gel, which again, was very uncomfortable for me and I'd imagine others also for the obvious reasons I stated above. It got everywhere and I was not sure if all the gel (or enough of it, at least) had been used. However, I do appreciate that I'm able to use this product at home without a prescription, as the U.S. does not have anything like this available OTC. For maintenance though, I would never use this product and probably will not purchase again since I have researched and found a similar product in suppository form. I think that will work much better for my needs in the future.
