Super fun for kids & adults
This is an amazing gift for kids and adults alike. I bought these for my wife as kind of a gag gift and we had so much fun with it, that we immediately bought another box. The geodes quality is very good. You'll probably get a dud or two, but that's all part of the fun. It's exciting to see what is in each one when you crack them open. Parents will certainly have to assist children, but when you're done you'll have amazing keepsakes. I can't recommend this enough.

Don’t Be Fooled By These Rocks That I’ve Got, I’m Still Just a Mom From the Block
Do you have kids? Do they like smashing stuff? Do they like bling-y shiny stuff that looks expensive? If so, I know what to get them! Sure, they can break these pretty geodes open with a hammer. Or, they can drop them off the deck in a pillowcase, try to make a basketball point with them or crack them open in a myriad of creative, destructive ways that only children under 10 can dream up. Make sure they have protective eyewear and say a small prayer, then stand aside while they have marvelous fun doing what kids love - breaking stuff! Enjoy their innocent wonder at the beautiful sparkling crystals inside. Don’t correct them- These ARE precious jewels if your kids say so. Let them use them as pretend currency or in fancy art projects. Mine wants to make jewelry out of them. They provide quite a lot of entertainment. They also spark creativity and optimism- if these look like ordinary rocks you’d find anywhere- then the world can be full of awesome unexpected magic!

Variable quality of geodes.
Fun time for kids hammering the rocks, but a lot of the geodes didn’t have much sparkle.

Too hard to break open
My grandsons were very excited about the geodes. I bought a 10 pack and a 15 pack for different grandsons. They appreciated the result after the geodes were cracked open, but opening them was frustrating for them. The geodes are just too darn hard to open. I have three grandsons ages 5, 7, and 9. None of them had the strength or accuracy to break them with a hammer. I had to crack open all of them. Several could not be opened with a hammer - I had to resort to a sledge hammer. Roughly half of the ones we have opened so far have no cavity inside. They are still cool looking, but aren't as impressive as a geode with a cavity.

More difficult to open than expected
It says 8+ but I myself and struggling to help my 8 year old break them open. It suggests concrete floor which is only in our detached garage so we haven't been able to try that with the cold weather
