Easier than expected
I knew such things existed, but never used them before. I have read the reviews, and it seemed a hit or miss. However, I was lucky to find a good dough recipe online with step by step instructions for the pelmennitsa. The key is to use A LOT of flour. First heavily dust the dumpling maker through a flour sifter. Then roll out a layer of dough and attach it to the device. Then put the stuffing in the little holes, making sure not to use too much. Then cover it with another layer of dough and shake another good amount of flour on top. Press gently to squeeze out the air and put your rolling pin to use. It is oddly satisfying to pop the ready dumplings out of the holes. This was my first time using the contraption, and it was much easier than I expected. I did have 3-4 dumplings that were not sealed correctly, but that was my fault. After making two perfect batches, I got lazy and rolled my dough smaller than needed. The dumplings simply did not have enough dough to be sealed properly, and it was an easy fix by hand. All in all, I recommend it for ease of use!

Takes a bit of practice
This works quite well. Since it is plastic and lightweight, it is important to pay attention to the position of the 4 little feet before using a rolling pin on it, or it will topple easily. For me, even with generous flouring of the mold, I have to gently encourage my pelmeni to come out; they do not just plop out when I turn the device upside down. However, it makes nice pelmeni in a fraction of the time it would take to hand-roll them individually, and it comes at a very fair price. I recommend this pelmeni maker.

You need to know some tips to use it
Overall is a great thing if you know how to use it. The size of the cells is super small, which is great. It is not easier and not better, than to shape pelmeni by hand, but faster and with more consistent result. You need to put maximum 1/2 tsp of meat in each cell, otherwise they will get stuck. You necessarily need to apply a thin coat of any oil before using it. Make lower layer of dough thicker, and the upper layer of dough thinner. Use a lot of flour to dust the layers during the process. You need to apply a lot of force with the roller to cut pelmeni out. To take them out of the mold, you need to shake the pelmeni maker strongly, and they will fall out. Strongly recommend watching YouTube videos on the process before attempting to make pelmeni. It is very tricky at the beginning, but once you get it, it is super easy.

dust the top of form with A LOT of flour
My family really loves pelmeni - Russian style dumplings. We tried to do everything manually, and - although a very fun activity for the whole family built around our family's cultural tradition - it was VERY time consuming. We would not be able to routinely include pelmeni in our diet by manual production of every single "pelmen'" piece. My friend recommended me to purchase a pelmeni mold. This particular piece makes a descent amount of pelmeni dumplings at a time - enough to overeat for a single person or to still stay a little hungry for two :) Pelmeni that come out of this mold DO NOT look traditional. They are also smaller in size. Luckily this does not influence the taste. As a critical step to be able to take the pelmeni out, I would recommend to USE A LOT OF FLOUR on top of the mold. Or it will all stick to the plastic.

Great product!
The mold was easy to use, Just make sure to dust there mold with flour prior to using. The pelmeni came out all about the same size. It was easy to clean.

Not Particularly Food Safe.
For 1, the size for the dumplings is way way too small. making it just as tedious as doing one by one. that I can live with, kitchen gadgets are hit or miss. But I am giving this 1 star because the plastic is so poorly molded that plastic pieces fall off into the dough. I do not feel safe using this

perfect results, if you're careful
I followed some tips posted in a previous review. made sure that the bottom layer of dough was thicker, so when I pressed the filling into the hollow, it didn't tear. I only used a small amount of filling per space (around 1/2 tsp) so I could keep the spaces between dumplings clear and give the two sides of the dough something to sandwich to. I left the top layer thinner, so it was easier to roll through. and I removed the dumplings by hand, rather than trying to shake them loose. there were a few that were too overfilled and didn't seal all the way around, but the dough was forgiving enough to seal with my fingers. the results were perfect and bite sized.

It makes smaller pelmeni but it works better than the metal one.

I want to return this product. Way too small. This is not what I wanted. This is for Raviolis and NOT for PIELMIENIE or Dumplings!
