Good basic instructions for the beginner artist or for those out of practice.

This book is for beginners but has minimal “step-by-step” instructions. Additionally, the illustrations in this book are 99% North American, West Coast landscapes and trees. Expect lots of evergreens and rocks. The artist, Walter Foster, practiced illustrating in Laguna Beach, California, so the West Coast theme tracks. Overall this book is good for those who want to learn about basic concepts like shading in brief and who like drawing trees. But don’t expect the author to hold your hand as you struggle to draw a sugar pine, for example. You will not get the support you’re hoping for.

I’d like to learn to draw a variety of trees that I see every day and found this book very helpful.

In eerste instantie viel **Drawing: Trees with William F. Powell: Learn to Draw Step by Step** me wat tegen vanwege het geringe aantal pagina’s. Ik twijfelde of er genoeg informatie zou zijn om echt te leren hoe ik bomen op een gedetailleerde en nauwkeurige manier kon tekenen. Echter, het bleek al snel dat het bij dit boek niet gaat om de hoeveelheid pagina's, maar om de kwaliteit van de inhoud. Elke pagina is rijk aan informatie en biedt duidelijke, stapsgewijze instructies die me enorm hebben geholpen. Powell's methoden zijn grondig en goed uitgelegd, waardoor ik nieuwe technieken heb geleerd en mijn tekenvaardigheden aanzienlijk heb verbeterd. William F. Powell is een ervaren tekenaar en auteur die bekend staat om zijn duidelijke en praktische instructies. Big but thin book. Does show you step by step on drawing trees on big paper. Its thin but good enough for learning basics on trees. Good start or branches which is hard for beginner to imagine to draw
