Magic The Gathering - 2012 Core Set Booster Box

I purchased a booster box for Christmas, and I was not disappointed. The strength of the set--the value--lies in the fact that there are a lot of good cards at all rarities, so not hitting a Sorin Markov does not mean the box was a miss. This set brought back many classic cards, some dating all the way back to Alpha (e.g., Manabarbs). The reprints from later sets were well thought out, such as those from Rise of the Eldrazi (Gideon Jura), Torment (Grim Lavamancer), or Urza's Legacy (Quicksilver Amulet). As for my own pulls, I was quite pleased, getting the following $1-or-more cards in my thirty-six packs (by pack, with rarities in parentheses):1 - Goblin Grenade (U)2 - Furyborn Hellkite (M)3 - Rites of Flourishing (R)4 - Inferno Titan (M)5 - Glacial Fortress (R)6 - Ponder (C), Phantasmal Image (R), Hunter's Insight (U) FOIL7 - Ponder (C), Grand Abolisher (R)8 - Rootbound Crag (R)9 - Visions of Beyond (R)10 - Goblin Chieftan (R)13 - Goblin Grenade (U), Elvish Archdruid (R)14 - Rune-Scarred Demon (R)18 - Angelic Destiny (M)19 - Quicksilver Amulet (R)21 - Sorin's Vengeance (R)22 - Dragonskull Summit (R), Royal Assassin (R) FOIL24 - Spirit Mantle (U), Drowned Catacomb (R)25 - Timely Reinforcements (U), Jace, Memory Adept (M)26 - Timely Reinforcements (U)27 - Vengeful Pharaoh (R)30 - Ponder (C)32 - Primeval Titan (M)33 - Birds of Paradise (R)34 - Ponder (C)36 - Goblin Chieftan (R)So out of thirty-six packs, twenty-five of them had at least one decent card. I did get two rare FOIL cards, even if neither one was particularly valuable (the other one was Djinn of Wishes). The Magic 2012 exclusives also brought up the value: Angelic Destiny, Timely Reinforcements, Phantasmal Image, Visions of Beyond, Rune-Scarred Demon, Vengeful Pharaoh, and Furyborn Hellkite. I had a blast drafting and playing with these cards. I have already ordered some more packs in an attempt to complete the set.

Decent pricing on the box and plenty of cards to own once the packs have been opened. Will net you a decent set of playable cards with a few amazing cards to whet your appetite even more. Core Magic 2012 is a decent set mostly with an emphasis on the theme of aggressive creatures, but really this box isn't necessary for the veteran player because of the lack of tricks that the veteran is looking for in a card. Good idea for novice-average player or the returning player to get their hands on some of the building blocks for a constructed deck.

It was pretty awesome. I got three planeswalkers, and I got the full Empires set, 'Scepter of Empires, Crown of Empires, and Throne of Empires.' I got two sets, actually, I got a lot of really good cards to make some really awesome decks and it was just overall a really good deal. I definitely got my moneys worth.

This product was great, the cards were not damaged in any way and the variety of cards was really good not a lot of repeat cards. I have been playing this since 1995 and they keep coming up with new mechanics and twists in the game it never gets stale. This item was worth every penny.

I've always liked the Core Sets. They usually have pretty decent dual lands. The planeswalkers in M12 are pretty nice and the new illusions are a pretty neat newer creatures set.I am doing a booster draft and got a box for myself.

The box was suspect when I first received it. The packaging was not fully intact. I opened all the packs and did not receive a single mythic. If you're used to opening boxes, you know that each box has at least 3 mythics per box. Also, 10 of the rares were duplicates! I only opened 2 foil uncommons, the other 4 were commons. Now either I received the worst box ever assembled, or this distributor is tampering with the product. Either way I wouldn't waste your money buying here.

2012 has a lot of great cards that add to the strategy of our new and old cards. My husband and I loved the concepts. Also, well worth the money as newer booster boxes are more expensive. Delivered on time. Very happy.

Currently the contents of this box are on average worth $11 more than the amazon listing ($101 value vs $90 cost). It doesn't get any better.

Great box pulled 3 plains walkers from this box along with a higher than usual amount of rare and un common's and at the time it was priced very well wish I could buy another at the price I paid lol

Going into this purchase, I knew that the 2012 core set boosters dont usually contain that many high value cards so I was particularly disappointed. The majority of the cards are a nice addition to my collection but there arent a large number of particularly special or expensive cards so I am unable to sell many of the cards for a decent resale value however, I mainly bought this to get a decent collection and boosters are definitely the way forward. I got a few cards which were worth about £15- £20 so they will be sold and I will purchase an Avacyn booster box when it is released as it will contain more high value cards. Otherwise, definitely get this unless the 2013 set has been released at the time you're reading this in which case get that instead :DDan
