Sewing for Mini Dolls: Full sized patterns for 6.5 inch mini doll outfits Paperback – August 21, 2013

Well, American Girl really missed the boat when they did not offer clothes for their mini dolls. This book takes care of that. It provides a number of patterns that the home sewer can adapt and adjust in various ways. You do need to know a bit about sewing to make them, but it isn't too tricky. These would also be a nice project for a girl who is learning to sew herself. Scraps from her projects can be used to dress the doll to match. A pattern to make a 6 1/2 inch doll is included, so you don't have to buy one. There are also neat patterns for shoes. (And,what girl doesn't need more shoes) I photo copy the patterns, rather than cutting them out of the book, but you can certainly do that. I just want to save the bother of keeping track of all the little bits.....

I bought this for American Girl Mini clothes. It works for them. I find the details American Girl put into the clothes that come on their mini dolls is missing, though. For example, one basic shift has a zipper up the back - big, clunky, very 'basic homemade' feeling.I was glad to have somewhere to start, although I wished it was nicer stuff to begin with. (I adapted the princess dress to have French seams and tiny snaps instead of velcro, a train, and sleeves with a lace inset, all simple to do.)One tip - try shrinking down patterns made for full size American Girl dolls, minis have the same proportions. It will expand your choices!

This pattern book was my answer to how to get the clothes for the mini American Girl doll. I was surprised that this was all that I could find, but it gives multiple pattern choices and if you choose different fabric for each, then you have a variety of clothes for the mini. A cloth doll pattern is also included if you choose to make that. The clothes did fit the mini, even though the patterns said to try this on the doll before sewing the seam. (I didn't have a doll available for try-ons.) I am very pleased with this book.

These do fit the mini American Girl dolls well. I have 3 and now they can all have a wardrobe. The author's website is full of tips and more goodies that are a bonus; the website address is listed in the book and is a pleasant surprise. This would be a good starter book for teaching a young girl to sew. I am particularly happy that the book and it's companion for 7" dolls are priced so you can afford both.

This is one of the only books I could find for making clothing for these small dolls. I haven't had time to use it yet but I like the interchangeable quality of the various pattern pieces and I believe it even had shoe patterns. Shoes are the things that always get lost, yet you can never buy more. Her technique looks complicated but in the end the results should be good.

This is a well written book. It went beyon my expections. I highly recommend it to anyone sewing for the small American girl doll. i also want to make the rag dolll

This well written pattern book has a sweet cloth doll and an entire wardrobe of patterns. The patterns also fit the Mini American Girl doll and other 6 1/2 inch dolls. The author provides many photos of the construction of each garment. A fine addition to any Doll semestress' library.

These are like making "real" clothes but on a very small scale. These patterns are not for the faint of heart and will require plenty of patience. Clothes are very cute ... I hope my grandaughter appreciates the effort!

I found this hard to follow. It's okay but I think I'd have to write my own notes as I go. The clothes patterns seem to fit.
