Basic Electronics for Tomorrow's Inventors: A Thames and Kosmos Book

Excellent book for an older child to independently study electronics
This is an excellent book for a middle school (or advanced elementary student) that is interested in learning real electronics. We started with the Make: Electronics book, but that is clearly written for adults (probably a great fit for a high schooler). I really wanted a book my kids could work through to learn true electronics rather than relying on ready-made kits. This is definitely a book that fits the bill.No fluff - real work involved with this book, but written directly to the child so they can follow along. We are actually using this as an elective for our homeschool curriculum. It has everything your child would need for a thorough introduction. My husband (an electrical engineer) was impressed with the quality. The book includes safety information, hints for trouble shooting if a project doesn't work, fun facts, short biographies of inventors, and amazing projects that will give your child an opportunity to make working electronics from scratch - lights, alarms, motion detectors, etc.I have always been a fan of Thames and Kosmos kits and these books have the same high quality. I truly hope they continue to add to the set beyond this and the physics book - excellently done. A perfect fit for the those working at the 6 - 9 grade level.

It is good for beginners
I am about to start my engineering class in the summer I like it because it gives a nice simple theory background in all the chapters and you get to be familiar with the basics of circuits. Excellent to start!

BEST BOOK EVER!
I am a teacher by profession, my subjects typically are photography, graphics and communications. This year they decided to throw in electronics- what, wait, how. After spending MONTHS looking for something to help me understand the basics, and provide me with a guide to teach the students I found this book. It is by far the best book I've EVER purchased.

Not even basic
This book is too far advanced to be called "basic." I couldn't understand any of it, it's way above my head.
