I can’t believe I’m writing a review for a backpack for our parakeet, but here we are... We adopted our parakeet two years ago, after seeing a listing on Nextdoor.com. He had been flying around in a park when someone managed to capture him by throwing their jacket over him. Once we brought him home, it took awhile for him to get really comfortable, but he has grown into a confident, strong, active bird who enjoys his many mirror “friends” and various games and toys. He loves to go for car rides when we take him on road trip vacations. Personally, I thought he was living his best life. Until my 12 year old daughter came up with the idea to carry him around to, say, the mall or for an after dinner stroll, the way some people tote their small dogs around. A quick search of Amazon found this backpack. We were skeptical but to our surprise, said backpack is really good quality, and has a well-thought out design and features such as the stackable food/water dishes. Our bird is thrilled to stroll around in the backpack! The only criticisms I would offer are that it only came with one perch which is a little too close to the back “wall” of the pack (but you can bend it for adjustment) and the water container is not water tight (leaks if don’t keep it upright). Otherwise we highly recommend this this product.

First, I’d like to say that if you’re going to keep an animal in one of these domed plastic backpacks, I would highly recommend that you get a small fan to put on the side to blow air through. Which is what I’ve done. Amazon actually offers the fan if you scroll down on the same page that this backpack is offered. My bird absolutely loves this cage. We have taken him to Pendleton. While we were there, we took him to the Pendleton wool factory, and they loved him just as much as he did. I find that we are very well received in most all stores because he is in this lovely backpack. In these pictures, we have him at Cannon Beach Oregon. We went into Bruce’s candy. And in to the art gallery. He loved it and everyone was very kind to him and us. This backpack is great for an hour at a time. But I wouldn’t necessarily keep an animal in this backpack for longer than that. We have a cage inside of our vehicle and Duke our bird tends to ride on our shoulder or on our seats so ironically, he doesn’t spend much time in any enclosure, while we travel. I can’t tell you how many compliments and pictures people have given and taken when we are out and about with Duke in this lovely backpack. The big plastic dome allows him to interact as you can see from the video with other people. His singing shows that he is extremely content. I also noticed many people commenting about how it is purchased for kittens as well. Five stars for this backpack I highly recommend it to anyone with a bird or a kitten. Maybe even a small puppy although I would think that the puppy and the kitten might scratch the plastic fairly quickly. If you travel and you have a small pet that you want to take with you into stores, this could be the answer to your problem. Very well received and highly recommended. You will be the talk at any store you walk into I guarantee it.

We have a pet cockatiel who is very comfortable traveling in this backpack - we have taken him on small trips across town in it, and more recently in a cross state move (about 8 hours in the car) - the handle on top made it easy to pass a seatbelt through so we could keep him secure on the drive, and he could see the world as we traveled. The backpack has handy zipper doors on either side to easily pass him in / out (he can also walk in if he's so inclined) or a larger zip all around the top to fully open the bag up for thorough cleaning. It also comes with a rope perch that attaches to the small circular holes in the front and side, where you can also attach a feeding bowl / water bowl if you need to (there are ample holes for both perches and bowls.) The backpack also comes with a tray to put in the bottom, so you can lay down pet pads or whatever you prefer to use for easy mess cleanup. I was very grateful to have this backpack for moving, we have tried other pet carriers and cages in the past for birds and this was by far the easiest and best experience for both us owners and the bird!

Warning, in the summer your bird will cook in this unit! You must keep air blowing in the case to prevent this! Even if you're in the car, the sun on those really hot days makes inside this case unbearable. The winter, fall, and spring like days are best to use this case. Other than that I love being able to carry my bird with me when I'm on the road. That way I always know how's he doing. The feeder and water bottle and cup was a cute idea. However the water bottle portion leaked badly! If it turns over on its side all the water will leak out so carry a regular bottle of water for back up. The perch in mines was broken when I got too but nothing a little crazy glue couldn't fix! I just really enjoyed being able to carry my feather baby with me, especially since he was only 10 weeks old when I got him. It really helped us bond. I would buy this again!

Very nice design. It’s not heavy at all, has adjustable straps. I appreciate the pocket for putting a water bottle or a fan. There are two ways for your bird to enter- Through a smaller zipper entrance and the big dome. Definitely worth the money. It came with the perch and the metal tray as well as a cute bottle with three compartments for food, water, and treats! The smaller zippered entrance is also great for those of us who don’t clip wings! You can put treats in or water without the risk of your birdie escaping.

My amazon likes it! It’s spacious enough and I like the option of using the rope perch or the wooden perch. I like the metal tray for droppings and the backpack is easy to carry. Took him for a ride in the car and used the seat belt to tether to the backpack.

Such a wonderful backpack. All of my 6 parrots love it! A quality backpack for the price. Amazing design - my parrots feel safe & I feel safe with them in it. Highly recommend.
