Wishes: Would be nice if it was a few inches taller to make up for the smaller base perimeter, but the size difference is not a huge issue. Lack of a separate inner can makes it a little harder to get a stuffed full bag out of the can We bought this because our stainless steel step can was a little too wide to fit in the space where it works best in our kitchen. The color is perfect with our stainless appliances. If it was about 3 inches taller, the size would be perfect but it's still really good. Not a dealbreaker at all. We pull the bag out and empty our smaller cans from around the house into it, clean science projects out the frig, and take out a full bag. This can has a plastic ring to hold the bag in place instead of a full inner plastic can. It works well; the bag never slips. You can wrap the top of the bag around the ring before you put the the ring onto the rim of the can and it will hide the edges of your bag from view. Or you can wrap the bag around the rim of the can and set the ring down on top, which is little simpler but a few inches of the top of the bag will be visible. Our old step can had a full plastic inner can with air holes in the sides so that it hid the bag edge, and when the bag is very full we could still pull it out of the can easily by pulling the whole plastic inner can out. This one will form a suction between the bag and can if the bag is stuffed too full because the stainless steel exterior isn't as flexible as plastic. If you stuff it too full you can rip the bag trying to pull it out. You just have to pull it out slowly and gently, or not stuff it down so that the bag is super full when you pull it out. Not a big deal to us, just something to know. The batteries have lasted two and a half months and no sign they're dying. We use store brand batteries. We thought we might use rechargeable batteries for this, but don't think that will be required. The motion detector works really well, even in the pitch dark. You just have to get used to making a slight motion over the electronic eye as you walk up to the can. It's a small subtle motion that becomes habit pretty quickly. The sensitivity is good. It continues to detect motion as you interact with it so if you stand there and feed things in it doesn't close on you. Also, if you touch the word Open on sensor area it stays open until touch the word Close. It's easy to keep clean. Our old one had a hinge setup on the inside that trapped bits of trash and it was hard to clean that without taking it outside and hosing it down. This one is easy to keep clean in the areas above/around the bag. Overall we highly recommend this trash can. It was not dirt cheap, but the price is reasonable considering the quality.

I love this thing so much. it works so well and has insane capacity for such a slim size. We use it for recycling, it looks amazing with our kitchen. Other motion sensors seem to work also by vibration, but this is a true motion only sensor. It is very high quality, worth the price. I have a weird space under a countertop so it tucks all the way under you have to put a piece of black tape on the underside of the countertop (36 inches) in that case and it doesn't even open up to the full vertical door height but it still works exactly the right way

So far so good! So hard to find a big trash can worth the price that isn't junk that makes you want to just go heck to old school plastic. Came in fast and all in one peice no dents unlike others said wich can honestly happen with anything and you can just return exchange try agian usualy shippings fualt anyway, works like charm just like in others videos. So quiet compared to my old one this one is shockingly quiet. Love the count down no longer cuaght off guard trying to scrape plates into trash before getting your hand smashed haha unlike my old ones diff type would catch ur hand in it every time. Love the stay open feature. Absolutely hated having to have 2 small trash cans in the house with this only need1 . Why they don't make more big ones like this dono we got tired of the footpeddle ones breaking nothing lasting a year. Wish though that bug trash cans would make those plasitc black inserts you could pull out with the trash take out and spray and clean of somthing exploded n leaked could clean the inside without having to get wet the entetire things and moving parts but so far only seeing that very rare option on smaller ones and rare. Hope they read this and Make it where you can buy those separate if you choose cuz I'll take a lil loss for room to clean without harming vital parts to rust. Some complain of its thin metal but I think they could be little more detailed in this explanation; there's a small medium n large thickness. I've seen plenty small as in one finger can push it in to dent. I wouldn't say this is the thickest whereudhave to realy get bad kick it to dent it, I'd say medium. So mayb agree if you got big dogs i can see them hurting it but by then you may want to stay away from anything but thick Comercial plastic if that's the issue n it's they can learn real eady to opem it get in it anyway foot pedles would be better for dog issues. Now as far as seeing many day it never lasts past 2 years, well my footpeddle ones were the same if you can find one or the other lasting longer let me kno lol. The price is worth becuase we first got a foot pedle target one only 15 gallon vs this 21 n it was more expensive then this one and cheaper made feeling we took it back it was thin metal out said good foot pedle said best there is type it was not any better then others really. So for price I think this is good well let you know how long it lasts. Even came with a set of free bags plent to not just a tiny amount to try sell their bags but plenty. Even the hubby who hated all our old hands free version even my parents 3 hands free, was die hard peddle can type cuz less to go wrong, now he's seeing they just don't make even those like they used to the target one that was more expensive then this way smaller even was no better then the 50$made ones for the footpeddle. So you have won the hubby over and that's hard once he's stuck on somthing he gets stuck and convinceing him to give it anther go few did not wanna return yet anoyher. This trash can is almost perfect. The motion sensor is super convenient and works reliably, the size is ideal for my kitchen and fits nicely under the counter, and the stainless steel finish really is fingerprint resistant, which keeps it looking clean. That said, I ran into two problems with the unit I received. First, one of the foot pieces kept falling out when I unboxed it. I’m not sure why it wasn’t secure, but I used a bit of hanging putty to keep it in place and that solved the problem. The bigger issue is the deodorizer compartment. It simply does not stay closed when using the EKO filter refills that are supposed to be made for this can. I even tried trimming the filter smaller, but it still pops open. This makes the deodorizer feature essentially unusable, which is frustrating since it was one of the selling points of this model. Overall, it’s a stylish, convenient trash can that I use every day, but the deodorizer flaw keeps it from being a true 5-star product.

I have had this trash can for a year now. It is so much better than my old step-on can, which would often bang the wall when stepped on. I love the sensor, so you don’t actually have to touch it to open and close most of the time. I do find if it starts to close and you manually stop it from closing, it will remain open until the button is pressed to close it. Otherwise, it opens and closes automatically. I’ve also only needed to change the batteries once since I’ve had it. Standard kitchen bags work well, and it’s pretty quiet. You only hear a soft hum when the lid operates. It looks great, and I’m very pleased with this purchase.

Had it for a bit, so far it works great. I love the bag holder. Standard 13 gallon bags fit perfectly. The lid sits on top of the bag hold down and makes for a secure hold. The stainless color is a little brighter than my appliances but still a good fit. Batteries are in a moisture resistant compartment and easy to install. Simple to operate with just a wave of the had to open.

While I've always had reservations about electronic versions of regular household items, I have to say that so far, I'm pretty impressed with this trashcan. The design is nice, but subtle. The bag-holding design is simple and effectively keeps the trash bag in place, unlike many popular trashcans I've used. Not to mention, this thing holds more volume of garbage than it's looks give it. The motion-activation works pretty well and I like that there are touch controls to hold open and shut the lid. Another nice little feature is the small compartment for a deoderizer, although the ones I bought are a little too big for the compartment. I haven't owned it long enough to attest to how frequently the lid needs battery swaps or how durable it is, but time will tell. The trashcan also comes with a trial-run of trash bags, but they're not all that impressive. Overall, a great upgrade! I am hopeful that the battery-operated lid lasts a while.
