So far upon opening it’s a great looking Bible
This review is of first impressions only(visually inspecting it & flipping through some books and chapters to read from.) Firstly & sometimes most importantly, who ships the Bible I got & who is the seller: Amazon for both. (Please look at that, if you don’t know that yet. Scammers get on here & sell knock offs or horrible quality items.) My Dad has a Scofield Study Bible in the NIV. So, I knew kind of what I was expecting but not the finer details of this Bible version since it’s a different than dads in that manner(I got the NKJV) the 3rd edition with the thumb index on the side of pages. Which I do like the index. It makes it so much easier to thumb through to find books quicker. It’s black/burgundy leather bonded, basket weave pattern on binding end of book… See Pictures attached. The red lettering is a must for me as far as Bibles go(I like to visually see when Jesus is speaking.) It’s smells like leather when you open the box or get close to this beautiful Word of God(which the box case is a nice feature to have to store Bible in but I suggest highly, that you don’t store it in the box case but leave it out for easy access, to get into the Word everyday of your life, that God has blessed you with! Weirdly, even the inside pages have a nice smell too. Not Chinese quality, for sure. Made in Korea. The bonded leather is nice & the basketweave “pattern” is really nice as well. The maps are colored which surprising detail & info(in my photo if the map1 that doesn’t show the color but the fine details of the region in different periods. Cons: •Not a lot of space to write in margins. Not a deal breaker but I wish there was a little bit more room to write. Personal preference. •The font size is small for us older individuals. Still need reading glasses in darker areas. (You can’t have everything perfect but for me this as good as it gets for what I need.) Conclusion: All-in-all, it’s a great Bible. Very satisfied on first impressions & thumbing through it. Im looking forward to digging into & changing over to this study Bible from the evidence Bible. If anything changes(as always) I will update this posting. But for now, highly recommend for the references, outlines, maps & ALL the useful information from those time periods, as-well-as the augmented sections that comes with the study Bible 3.

Outstanding Study Bible
1. Physical Description A. I have had several study Bibles over the years and one thing I have always had a problem with is studying the Scriptures instead of the commentary. It is very easy to get lost in the commentary as there can be more on a given page than there is Scripture. The Scofield Study Bible is a nice balance of Scripture content to commentary and is easy to read without getting side tracked. While I do enjoy my Nelson Study Bible, I tend to pick up the Scofield more often than not since receiving it. B. The readability of the text is great, it is a large enough font without being giant and the spacing is very easy on the eyes. The non-study Bible I was primarily using before this was very strenuous on my eyes and I had a hard time reading for very long before my eyes felt like they were ready to cross! I find myself reading chapter after chapter in the Scofield due to how easy to read it is in this regard. C. The construction of this Bible is incredible for and would be a bargain at twice the price. The leather is thick and nicely textured, the binding is superb. When you handle this Bible there is a very real felt quality that you know you are holding something well made. It is not overly large as to be too bulky to take with you to church, but I find it just right. It has to be of some size to account for the nice size font, spacing and limited study notes, but again is very manageable and is a bit smaller than the Nelson Study Bible. I could take or leave the thumb index, there is usually an extra price in other additions to get this feature so to have all the "bells and whistles" so to speak is kind of nice. 2. Theology A. Literal Interpretation is a must, and if that puts me in the category that somebody labels in a particular way then so be it. It will be debated until the day the Lord returns (and He will return!) as to who is right and wrong, but I think Scofield was on the right track in sticking to the Word and not trying to twist it into whatever met the current events of the day and base how the Word of God was to be interpreted based on our limited knowledge. When we realize as humans we don't have it all figured out, only our Creator does, we can let Scripture speak to us rather than coming to Scripture expecting it to tell us what we want to hear in hopes of it matching what we can physically see. 3. Conclusion A. If you are looking for a study Bible that clearly presents Scripture in a well known literal translation that is not overwhelmed with volumes of commentary (not that it is always a bad thing) but has the right references and commentaries to help clear up some tough concepts, then this is the Bible you are looking for. I recommend it very highly!

A great Bible
First, just let me say that this Bible is of excellent quality. I find the binding looks good and feels good to touch. The type is comfortable to read and the thumb index is very helpful. Not all Bibles have that thumb-index and if you are as out of practice reading your Bible as I was, these will be very helpful! Especially in Sunday School class if you have a teacher who is very familiar with the scripture and likes to jump around a lot. I completely agree with Scofield on every point and every note. The doctrine he espouses goes hand in hand with the actual words of our Lord. Scofield excudes common sense when dealing with such things as the Creation (a very sticky point and a stumbling block for me in the past, but no more). Some might be offended by his Creation explanation, because he does not adhere to the 6 24-hour day fundamentalist view. This was one of the things that actually SOLD me on this Bible. Fundamentalists may not like this Bible for that reason, but it has been the answer for me. The New American Standard translation is easy to read in comparison to the King James Version. It is less contemporary than the NIV, but I find that the NIV goes too far sometimes in its contemporary language and robs some of the strength of the text. Not so with the NASB ... it's taken out all of the Thees and Thous and Verilys, but the urgency of the text is still felt on every page. This is not a Bible that has watered down Jesus' message. It does not take a "namby pamby" approach to your salvation. It clearly and emphatically tells you what is required of you to enter the Kingdom of Heaven ... one way and only one way. The Notes and insets are quite informative and helpful. There are some nice maps in the back. I highly recommend this Bible for those of you who had your religion educated out of you in one of our liberal institutes of higher learning. God bless you.

Very readable printing, high quality cover, excellent thumb indexing.
The Scofield notes are here same as ever, but the cross references and translation notes are moved to the outer margins rather than a center column. This helps make the text stand out. The text is sharp and crisp, much more readable than my KJV Old Scofield. My only hesitation is the New Testament is Red Letter. With the KJV red letter is fine since there are no quote marks, but the NKJV translators added quote marks to the text so in my opinion red letter is not necessary. The red is deep and easy to read, so it is not a huge problem. It does not appear that this Bible is available in black letter, nor is it available without thumb indexing. The cover is stiff and durable, and the thumb indexing is well done. I highly recommend this Bible for the price - I doubt you could get a better made Bible in any translation for the money. Even ministries like Local Church Bible Publishers, while they may use better covers, do not have printing this readable. I would take a better text block any day of the week. Once this genuine leather wears out in 30 years, it's easy to get a new cover put on - but it's impossible to make an inferior text block more readable. Oxford makes some of the best Bibles in the business, and this one is a great one for the price.
