The friction plate broke on the engine and the company recommended replacing the pawls at the same time. This kit contains all that you would need. The original didn't have the springs so I didn't use them. I do see where another reviewer used them to help push them out and if I have to replace them again I will try that as well. Works just fine, engine starts first pull.

The items were a right fit for my Mclain lawnmower. Came at the right time to get my lawn cut, I gave it a 4 star cause not sure how long it will last before it break due to the plastics.

It looks hours to figure it out by trial and error. Fyi - below the part and behind the plastic wheel is a recoil spring. Try not to move the plastic wheel holding it down' or else the spring will come out and you will have to figure out how to recoil the spring and put it all back together. Plan on loosing atleast 1 spring. If you have some sort of big magnet' you might be able to wave it over a large area and snap it up?
