Theory Made Easy for Kids, Level 1 (Made Easy: Level 1) Review: Best music theory book for kids ever! - This is the best music theory book you could ever get for kids. It’s perfect for first, second, and third graders and for all instruments. The book starts out teaching kids whole notes, half notes, and quarter notes and how many counts each note has. Then the book has fun activities to help reinforce students what they learn. I think 2 pages per day is a good pace. Then the book introduces the treble clef and later the bass clef. It names the letter of each note on the musical scale. It’s an excellent and straightforward way to start teaching kids how to read music. The author is a genius. The book also comes with 2 sheets of stickers to help complete the exercises. What a fun and brilliant way to teach kids music theory. Review: Love it! - My 5 year old loves this book, especially all the stickers that relate to the lessons. It’s so wonderful to see her love music theory and to get the building blocks to start understanding piano music.

Great book for ages 5+
This is the book we use for my kindergarten music students and it could be a little advanced for kindergarten but overall they did great and it’s a fantastic music book for kids. I would say no younger than kindergarten. And I love that it has a review and test at the end to see what they remember. My students did great with this book and they actually enjoyed it.

Perfect if you already know the basics
This book is intended to teach your child the basics, which is great if you already know the basics yourself. If not you may run into issues, for example, it assumes you already know what time signature is, number fingers, and where bar lines go. Thankfully I could call our church pianist for help there. The book is well made and colorful and provides practice pages for new concepts. Only other con is that the stickers are located at the front of the book which causes a lot of flipping back and forth which sometimes distracts from the lesson.

Very easy to follow along
This workbook is meant to be easy enough for a child to learn. As an adult, if you are following along as you teach your child, there should be no issue. It’s very self explanatory and no musical background is needed. Love this book. It’s helpful to have a keyboard or piano so the child can hear the notes as you go.
