Funkin Pro Blackcurrant Fruit Puree, 1 kg

Perfect for cocktails. Not too sweet and tasted lovely.

Although this is primarily marketed as a fruit purée for cocktails I bought it to use in various food preparations. Normally I but the Merchant Gourmet Chef's Raspberry Puree 1 Kg , but as that was out of stock and I had an urgent raspberry puree emergency I thought I'd give this a try, and I'm certainly happy that I did. Firstly the flavour is great, the purée is made simply with 90% raspberry and 10% sugar which seems the perfect balance of sweet and tart. A small thing but I really like the pouch they come in, its shape makes it easy to squash into a corner of a full fridge and the nozzle ensures it's easy to pour without making a mess. The purée has a great shelf life (over a year on the two I received) and once opened is good for 8 days. The Funkin range of purées is now my go to choice, really happy I gave them a try. Would highly recommend.

Simple to use, lasts for ages before opening and a couple of weeks from being opened as long as left in the fridge. All round a great quality product that we will be buying again. Great speedy delivery as usual from Amazon as well. All round a great purchase. A*

more of a juice than a puree and whether its the quality of the lemons or when it was made, its rather mild . Imagine will be good in the winter cold staple of honey and hot lemon

Use this for cocktails. Lovely taste. Froze the rest after opening and continue to use frozen so well used.

Funkin is my favorite brand of fruit purees, they always produce a flavorful and consistently excellent product. This Morello Cherry puree in particular is amazing, fantastic flavor, color, and consistency. I primarily use purees in confections and desserts such as gelee, mousse, cake, cremeux, etc, which always exceed expectations, but they are also outstanding in drinks/smoothies/cocktails. One of the best features of this puree is that it’s shelf stable! Most other decent to premium purees need to be frozen or refrigerated, which results in time sensitive use and fills up the freezer, plus the premium frozen purees are typically significantly more expensive. Being able to have premium level fruit puree on hand whenever the need may arise is extremely convenient. Plus if you don’t want to use the entire contents of the pouch within a week or so, you can easily freeze small portions of puree for individual use, and they’ll take up very little space and last for months. I frequently portion out the puree in particular amounts for specific types of recipes for future use. I’ve bought dozens of Funkin purees, and I definitely would recommend them to others.

I purchased the mango version.. taste was soso... While it has a nice pour pouch, the can puree can be had for more than half the price. You can get 4x the puree in cans for the same price and those are better tasting... Tried this as an option to the canned mango puree and it was a failure.... Also once opened only good for 10 days ..

Has a syrupy taste. Pretty expensive compared to the same product that you can buy in France. Otherwise, not bad.
