Very Pleased So Far
Installation was a snap. This vent fan replaced a very old Nautilus fan we had in our bathroom ceiling that did more rattling than it did venting. The dimensions of the cutout in your ceiling should be close to 8" x 8.25". It can be a little bit larger as the plastic shroud is 10.75"x10.75". The vent tubing is 4" also. Some smaller vents are 3" so make sure you buy the right diameter vent tubing for this. There are brackets on the side of the chassis that allow you to screw it into a ceiling joist, and an electrical access panel with two slug cutouts which allow you to choose whether your electrical enters on the side or the top. Inside the electrical access panel is the standard black (hot), white (neutral), and green (ground) wires. The wires are 14 gauge twisted (not solid) core. The electrical access panel is held on by a single screw. Thats all there is to installation. Upon turning on the fan, it takes 3-4 seconds to spin up to full speed, and it is very quiet. Our old fan came with the house and was very old, so I cannot say with any level of certainty how many sones it had, but this thing is quiet. You can clearly tell its on when in the bathroom, but close the bathroom door, and take a couple of steps down the hall and you'd never know it is on. This is very important to us, because our baby's nursery is right next to the bathroom, and the fan cannot be heard in the next room. I also like the idea of the green LED that lets you know when its time to clean the fan. The plastic shroud is held on by tension clips, so it will be very easy to clean when the time comes. That's really all I can say about this fan. Installation was a snap, the build quality seems good, and the fan is as quiet of a bathroom as I've ever heard. Only time will tell how well it holds up, but I know Delta makes a lot of ventilation products. Their PC case fans are considered some of the best out there, so I have no concerns that I will continue to be pleased with this fan for years to come.

Great Fan!
I had this installed by an electrician and it took him about 2.5 hours to do it as it was a new installation. The fan looks great and it works well in my bathroom which is about 9×4. The fan is pretty quiet when the first comes on but kicks up after a minute or so but its not too loud just don't expect it to be whisper quiet. I usually turn it on before I take a shower to get it going and let it run a little bit afterwards and it clears the room fairly quickly with some condensation on the mirror but it clears out within a minute. The only negative thing is the placement of the led light its inside the fan not on the cover so you can't see it from all angles so just be aware of that. I also wouldn't recommend using Amazon's new installation service either as the quote was almost double what a local company charged me.

Easy install in an ideal situation
If you have an ideal situation (attic access or flex duct connections for a room-side install) then this is easy to install and is pretty quiet. I wouldn't say silent, or whisper quiet, by my two installs involved 4" to 3" duct reducers which is known to increase the sound level of the unit, as well as flex-ducting over to the existing duct and putting turns in ducting also increases noise. I will say that I had it running in my bathroom and was standing in my bedroom and couldn't hear it over my washer's spin cycle three rooms away - I had to go into the bathroom to check that it was running. I bought this unit in particular because it was rated as being very quiet and the size was approximately the same size as the units I was replacing and I only had to do minor modifications to the gyp board ceiling for the install - enlarging the holes 1/2" on one side only. As for the install itself, wiring is easy (three connections), my units came with hanger bars that I didn't use, I just screwed the house directly to the stud, and the unit that I got (the basic, no frills, no lights, no humidity sensor, etc.) came with an operating light so when I turn it on in a dark bathroom I can see the light in the grille indicating that it's running. I definitely didn't have an ideal installation situation but my review is not based on my overall hassle, just on the actual unit's installation and operation.

The exhaust fan works better than expected
Love the fact that this fan is almost silent and with 80 CFM moves the right amount of air to remove moisture & odors from the red bathroom. Very satisfied & would buy again.

Great fans, I've got 2 installed in my bathrooms ...
Great fans, I've got 2 installed in my bathrooms and they work well. With a vent through the roof the fan is a little louder - likely cause it strains more. I think I'd be annoyed by the fan if it were any quieter than it is. As it is, if the furnace or ac is on you can't hear the fan. It's a good mix of quiet with just enough noise so you can tell it's on.

Good Product at a great Price
Quiet, at under 2 sonos, installation was standard and very nice product for the price. Only downside is it has a delayed start which is not a bad thing ( some high end panasonics do the same thing) , just undesirable to a few as some clients want to hear fan as soon as it turns on. Overall good product

SOOO QUIET
Fan was easy to install and is so quiet. It has a little green light that tells me it is running. My last bathroom fan sounded like someone hitting a can with a spoon. So this one is a dream. Sounds like a very very quiet fan. Peaceful!

Decent Bathroom Exhaust Fan.
This was a replacement for our Delta GBR80, which is nowhere to be found. But this exhaust fan is louder and has a tin-y sound when it starts.

Purchased because it claimed it was so quiet it needed a light so you would know it was on. This fan is not that quiet but it is better than the cheaper alternatives. You can clearly hear it running. Straight forward install in an accessible attic, the only issue I had was my joist spacing was 24" and the hangers for the fan barely overlap each other which made using the machine screws to secure them together was almost not possible. Ended up purchasing the model with the humidity sensor for our other bathroom so it only runs at half speed when its not venting moisture, that one is quieter.

"virtually silent".... I don't think so. They're not loud, but you can definitely hear them when on. They do perform well.
