Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

I found this lens a bit heavier than what I used to feel, If I compare it with my other Pentax lenses. But the quality of the pictures it gives, it is great, it is very good. Also please take into account that the price of this lens was very cheap comparing with equivalent Pentax lens. Very good product. Also the weight of this lens gives very sturdy feeling and it also helps me to keep the camera more stable while taking the photos. So it becomes a plus point, at the end. Very good quality lens, for me. And I have been a photographer since the 70s.

I'm a nut for wide-angle photography. I don't mean to get technical, but for those who do not know the sticky details, modern Digital SLRs often have sensors that are quite a bit smaller than the traditional exposure area of film: 24mmx36mm. In the case of Nikon DSLRs (all current models except their $5000 Nikon D3 12.1MP FX Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) professional FX sensor model) use what they call a DX sensor which is 16mmx24mm. For us old film hounds, this means that a lens of a given focal length will roughly translate to 1.5x when switching from film (of Full frame) to DX. So, your old 20mm wide angle lens will "crop" to about the equivalent of a 35mm lens when put on a DX sensor DSLR. For those who really like telephoto shots, this is a positive boon. Your 300mm lens will take pictures that have the same angle of view as a 450mm lens, but for those of us wide-angle freaks, this "digital crop factor" takes some of the "punch" out of the bottom end. Many general-use zooms for the DX sensor cameras start around 18mm. This would be ultra-wide on that old film camera, but it takes pictured that look more like what you'd expect from a 28mm lens on a traditional film camera. Ok, sorry for all the mumbo jumbo, but now on to why this lens is so great... With its 10mm-20mm focal length, this lens is the 35mm film SLR equivalent of a 15mm to 35mm zoom lens, and 15mm full-frame is about the widest you can go before getting into "fish-eye" territory. With this Sigma lens at 10mm, you get a very wide angle perspective without crossing over into fish-eye territory. Yes, there is noticeable "barreling", but nothing beyond the range of most modern photo/image editing software's ability to fix. Frankly, I like a little of that in my ultra-wide photos. At the 20mm end, the "barreling" is much less noticeable. As will all extreme wide angle lenses, if you get right on top of your subject, you'll really amplify the distortion effect, but if you're shooting at 10mm and focusing down to the lenses minimum focus distance (an amazing 10" or so), you're probably already expecting, and even counting on such distortion anyway. Did I mention that it focuses down to around 10"? The construction of this lens is solid, and it has a little heft to it. It comes with its own custom lens hood. USE IT. The front element on this lens bulges out a bit (as you can see from the product photos), and aside from helping with lens flare, that extra bit of "guard rail" will help you avoid scratching the thing. I've put a UV filter on the front to help protect the glass, but the distance between that glass and the front lens element makes this "reflection box" that has visibly shown in some of my highly backlit/highly contrasty photos. The focusing is fast and silent. I really like the fact that this is one of those "internally focusing" lenses which means that the act of focusing does not turn the manual focus rung, and doesn't make the lens change position or size. More importantly, if you want to manually focus, you can just grab the ring and turn because it's not "locked" into place in AF mode like many other lenses. I've taken some of my best photos with this lens, and for the wide-angle enthusiast with a DX sensor Nikon DSLR, I'd go so far as to say this is a must-have. It's got 2mm wider focal length than the nearest Nikon (with DOES make a visible difference at the low-end), but its incredibly well made and clear from edge to edge (though, it does have that "barrel" distortion... it's still crisp from end to end with little to no vignetting) Sorry, I probably went on a bit, but as you can tell, I really like this lens. I'd highly recommend that you do your research before you buy it as ultra-wide angles do have some idiosyncrasies, but if you know what to expect (photographically) from them, then this lens is one of the best I've ever played with/owned.

I am a REALTOR and have seen that the better the pictures the more showings and the more showings the faster the sale. I knew that a wide angle lens would enable me to take better pictures of the enclosed spaces encountered in houses. After reading some of the reviews here, I hesitated purchasing this lens. However, I did not want to spend enough to buy a Nikon 10-24 or 12-24. Since MLS photos are displayed at low resolution and notoriously bad, I went ahead and bought it. I am extremely glad I did. I may just have received a good copy, however, the copy I received is bright and sharp across the entire field even wide open. I see MLS photos all of the time that display enormous barrel distortion to the extent that you go into the home expecting to see curved walls and bent pillars. This lens displays minimal barrel distortion even wide open. Far less then my kit lens at 18mm. There is a tiny bit of chromatic aberration, but that is tolerable and slight enough to be unnoticeable other than at high magnification. So far I have only taken test shots around my own home, but they came out great. I am extremely satisfied with this lens and look forward to using in on my next listings. I am so eager to use it in a live environment that I plan to ask my existing listing clients to allow me to do re-shoots. I have often been complemented on my MLS photos and have even had clients who said that they determined to list with me rather than another agent primarily on the basis of my listing photos. I anticipate that this lens will take me to the next level and enable me to secure more listing on even more valuable properties. I have no regrets over buying this lens and there is no question that I would do it again.

(Wer meine Rezension bzw. mich und wie ich Objektive teste und bewerte besser einschätzen können möchte, siehe bitte meinen Kommentar zur Rezension.) Insbesondere für die Filmerei mit meiner Canon EOS 600D wollte ich unbedingt noch ein Extrem-Weitwinkel, aber natürlich benutze ich das Objektiv auch sehr gerne für die Fotografie. In vielen Bereichen bevorzuge ich alte manuelle Linsen, doch da das APS-C Format praktisch gerade mal knapp 15 Jahre alt ist, gibt es hier kein entsprechendes Material, und Extremweitwinkel-Objektive für Vollformat verkommen natürlich bei dem Cropfaktor von 1,6x einer 600D zu normalen Weitwinkelobjektiven. Also habe ich nach einem bezahlbaren aktuellen Objektiv gesucht, und letztlich beschränkt sich die Wahl für eine Canon hier auf das Sigma 10-20 F4,0-5,6 und das Tamron 10-24 F3,5-4,5. Für alles andere muss man nochmal mindestens 200€ oben drauf legen (oder gebraucht kaufen). Keine große Auswahl also. Preislich gibt es keinen wesentlichen Unterschied (außer durch Preisschwankungen bedingt). Ich habe ziemlich ausgiebig Testergebnisse und User-Meinungen gelesen und es hat sich außergewöhnlich(!) deutlich abgezeichnet, dass das Sigma als besser eingeschätzt wird. Natürlich ist das Tamron, wie auch die anderen Alternativen, minimal lichtstärker. Doch gerade bei einem Extremweitwinkel ist das für mich am ehesten zu verschmerzen. Ob nun Landschafts-, Architektur- oder Straßenfotografie, mit dem Weitwinkel möchte ich in der Regel eine hohe Schärfentiefe erzielen, also blende ich ohnehin immer etwas ab. Zudem ist es mit 83x81mm und 470g relativ kompakt und leicht und eignet sich für mein kleineres Schwebestativ, was für mich sehr wichtig war. BILDQUALITÄT: Die beste Abbildungsleistung erreicht das Objektiv zwischen Blende f/5.6 und f/11. In diesem Bereich bin ich mit der Bildqualität sehr zufrieden. Darunter und darüber, also bei Blende 4 (10mm) und insgesamt ab Blende 16, allerdings eine deutlich schwächere Bildqualität. FARBEN und KONTRASTE sind aber über den gesamten Bereich so wie zu erwarten gut. Die SCHÄRFE würde ich allgemein mit einer 7 von 10 bei Blende 5.6 bis 11 bewerten. Ansonsten eher mit 5-6. Natürlich wäre es toll, wenn die Bildqualität sogar bei Nahbetrachtung von Bildausschnitten überzeugen könnte, denn bei Weitwinkelaufnahmen gibt es naturgemäß in der Regel theoretisch viel Detail zu entdecken. Dafür reicht die Auflösung des Sigma nicht ganz, erst recht was die Randbereiche betrifft. CHROMATISCHE ABBERATIONEN sind bei Weitwinkelobjektiven generell etwas problematischer, doch das Sigma hat mich diesbezüglich positiv überrascht. Bedacht fotografiert sollten sie höchstens vielleicht bei Nahbetrachtung unangenehm auffallen und hier ist wie erwähnt insgesamt die Bildqualität ohnehin nicht mehr so ansprechend. Eine deutliche VERZEICHNUNG ist nur bei und nahe 10mm Brennweite und nur in den extremen(!) Randbereichen zu erkennen. Ansonsten sind gerade Linien wirklich wunderbar gerade. Für meine Ansprüche eignet sich das Objektiv damit also nicht nur für Landschafts-, sondern auch für Architekturfotografie, solange man wichtige Linien nicht zu weitflächig durch Randbereiche verlaufen lässt. Einen Vergleich mit Standard-Zoomobjektiven (z.B. 18-55 Objektive) bei 18-20mm gewinnt das Sigma 10-20 mit links (rein in Bezug auf die Verzeichnung). Die VIGNETTIERUNG ist bei Offenblende ziemlich stark, und auch sonst deutlich abgeblendet immer noch recht ausgeprägt. Aus meiner Sicht ist Vignettierung im Normalfall (zumindest für mich) nicht von soo großer Relevanz, trotzdem sei angemerkt, dass dies ein Schwachpunkt des Objektivs ist. Das Objektiv hat 6 Blendenlamellen, das BOKEH gefällt mir nicht so besonders, aber es ist auch kein so entscheidender Aspekt eines Weitwinkels für mich. GEHÄUSEQUALITÄT: Das Gehäuse macht einen hochwertigen Eindruck und scheint mir tadellos verarbeitet. Ein Gehäuse aus Kunststoff kommt mir in Hinblick auf das Gewicht in diesem Fall definitv entgegen, auch wenn mir sonst ein robustes Metallgehäuse lieber ist. ZOOM- und FOKUSRING sind gummiert und ausreichend breit. Ich würde sie weder als leichtgängig noch schwergängig beschreiben (irgendwo in der Mitte), doch sie lassen sich jedenfalls ordentlich und präzise bedienen. Beim Zoom fährt ein Tubus aus dem Gehäuse, aber nur wenig mehr als einen Zentimeter. Die Fokuseinstellung umfasst glaube ich ungefähr 140° Rotation. Allerdings gibt es keine harten Stopps, sondern nur ein leichtes Klicken und leichten Widerstand bei Erreichen der Entfernungsgrenzen, der Ring lässt sich aber trotzdem weiter drehen, was für Follow Focus suboptimal ist. Der AUTOFOKUS arbeitet so wie man es sich wünscht: schnell, leise und zuverlässig. Er ist deutlich hörbar, aber die Geräusche sind eher niederfrequent, sodass sie mich nicht stören. Auch bei schwierigen Motiven oder Lichtverhältnissen gelingt die Fokussierung eigentlich fast immer. Ich habe keinerlei Probleme mit Front-, Back- oder Miss-Focus. Außerdem kann man bei aktiviertem Autofokus auch manuell fokussieren, was ich wirklich willkommen heiße. Einen BILDSTABILISATOR gibt es nicht. ZUBEHÖR: Als Zubehör gibt es eine Gegenlichtblende und eine Aufbewahrungstasche. Die Tasche ist relativ voluminös und fast quadratisch in seiner Form. Die Seitenwände der Tasche sind kaum gepolstert und der Durchzug für einen Befestigungsgurt ist fest angenäht, anstatt mit einem Klettverschluß oder ähnlichem befestigt zu sein. Insgesamt eignet sich die Tasche daher eher nicht um sie z.B. außen an Fotorücksäcken zu montieren oder an Gürteln zu tragen. Als Objektivköcher ist sie insgesamt nicht so gut geeignet. FAZIT: Richtig günstig ist ein Extrem-Weitwinkel für APS-C nicht zu bekommen, doch wer vergleichsweise noch möglichst wenig ausgeben möchte, bekommt mit dem Sigma 10-20 F4,0-5,6 trotzdem ein sehr gutes Objektiv. Es ist in keiner Hinsicht exzellent, hat jedoch gleichzeitig auch keine gravierenden Schwächen. Daher ist es angesichts des Preises für die Zielgruppe meiner Meinung nach die perfekte Wahl.

Great lens! Really great for landscape shots, or places that are tight quarters. I am a newbie to SLR cameras(t3i) and am not disappointed with the lens at at all. Sharp clear photos. Sturdy well built lens as far as i am concerned(i am not a pro). Shipping was ultra fast ! I would reccomend this lens to anyone that is looking to take group photos as well.

まあまあ重いです。nikon d5500ではバランスがレンズ側になります。少しだけ気になりますが、使いずらい程ではない価格から考えるとコスパ最高ですよ。写りは悪くないですAFは速なく普通ですが、広角で速い被写体を撮る事は余りないので問題にならないと思います。

5 estrellas en caldiad/precio, que es en el segmento que compite este producto. Estupendo para callejear en ciudad. La fotografía a 10-12 mm te abre otro mundo. Si eres simplemente un aficionado a la fotografía, estás buscando un gran angular como complemento de tu objetivo de kit, y tienes un presupuesto limitado, este es tu objetivo. Te va a dar muchas satisfacciones. En días luminosos presenta unos colores saturados, imágenes nítidas, poca distorsión (salvo a 10mm, pero siendo asumible). Contras: no es luminoso (no es adecuado para fotografía nocturna). Tapa y parasol mejorables (no quedan demasiado fijas y dan la sensación de que se van a caer en cualquier momento), enfoque quizá ligeramente por detrás del punto seleccionado (se puede corregir). Conclusión: estoy encantado con mi objetivo; tiene una calidad más que suficiente para un aficionado (y un precio estupendo<400€); abre otro mundo en fotografía. Si no te dedicas a la fotografía profesional, es una excelente elección.

Sigma, un nome che è sinonimo di sicurezza e,come sempre, offre dei prodotti eccellenti. Lente ottima, buona nitidezza e colori stupendi fin dai primi scatti. La qualità cromatica e gli effetti di luce generano forti emozioni. La qualità costruttiva è davvero ottima, la sensazione al tatto è piacevole e rende l'idea di un prodotto solido e duraturo. Considerato il prezzo, si tratta di un ultrawide appetibile ed accessibile a tutti.L'AF veloce, la buona la nitidezza (che migliora chiudendo di uno stop), e infine la possibilità di usare i filtri, ne fanno davvero un "must have" per il paesaggista. Rispetto alla concorrenza quel che salta subito all'occhio è che satura meno i colori e, per avere però un bel cielo saturo, basta regolare di 1/3 di stop. Buona la la tenuta al flare, così come la nitidezza che non è superlativa ma soddisfa in ogni situazione. Per questo prezzo anche la dotazione è davvero completa, e offre paraluce e un ottimo porta obiettivo. Il Sigma è quindi un buon obiettivo, ottimo per i paesaggi, il migliore se si considera il prezzo e, a differenza di quanto dicono in giro, è abbastanza nitido anche ai bordi. E' un obiettivo che non soffre di front-back focus perché ha una profondità di campo considerevole anche alla massima apertura che parte da f/4. Lo consiglio rispetto alla cocorrenza sia Nikon che Canon che si, offrono prodotti di qualità, ma a prezzi davvero improponibili, visto che superano del doppio i prezzi di un produttore come Sigma che non è l'ultimo arrivato nel campo delle ottiche di qualità.
