8Bitdo G Bros. Wireless Adapter for Nintendo Switch (Works with Wired GameCube & Classic Edition Controllers) (Nintendo Switch//)

Love this! I bought it so that I could use my NES & SNES Classic controllers with my Switch, and it works brilliantly. Instructions that came with the product could have been a bit clearer (e.g. how to update the firmware) but you should be able to find whatever you need on the 8BitDo website. Being able to use this with Gamecube controllers is cool too. Great battery life at 30 hours per 2x AA batteries. Very cute and compact design. Would be great if it also supported controllers that connect via USB cable but for the price I can't argue. Perfect for anyone looking to use their NES/SNES Classic controllers with the Switch.

Works Seamlessly, Easy to use simple plug and play.Wanted something to use to play GameCube games on the sofa without having to run an adaptor over to the PC.For a cheap alternative with more features than shelling out for a WaveBird 2nd hand on CEX, i would 100%% recommend grabbing one of these before they sell out or discontinue

Out of all the ways you can use an original GameCube controller or similar on the go this is as of writing this the best way, it works great with Super Smash Bros Ultimate with however a minor issue, you see the G Bros isn't recognized as a GameCube controller on Super Smash Bros Ultimate but a Switch Pro controller, this makes the process of "plug and play" or in this case connect and play nearly impossible on Super Smash Bros Ultimate as you will have to edit the controls to fit a GameCube controller, forcing you into a couple of back and forth between editing and testing, however aside from that the G Bros works great and with no connectivity issues.The design and colors are based on the original GameCube controller which is both a smart and well designed choice, however i can't for the life of me figure out why it has a pixel shaped hearth and an average star on 2 of the buttons, it makes the device seem less credible and only adds to the "cheap Knockoff Product" vibe which is far from the truth, the other 2 buttons don't suffer from this issue and displays designs that are accurate to their functions.Another flaw in this product is the fact that the G Bros can't be charged but instead uses 2 AA batteries, and from what i can see it uses quite a lot of power as well, making cheaper brand batteries die out within days of use, while the more expensive brands last at least 2 weeks or more, this is sadly the G Bros's biggest issue as it would have been a massive plus had the device been rechargeable though a mini usb, it would have made the portable device even more portable without having to carry a pack a batteries for trips and travels.Something that is easily forgettable but important nonetheless is that the G Bros works on both the Switch and PC as well, making emulation feel much more genuine when playing with the real GameCube, Wii or one of many of 8Bitdo's controllers, and to top it off you are never restricted by any cable because of the G Bros wireless nature.The G Bros is a great product working as it should without any issues, however the choice to go with 2 AA batteries instead of charging the device itself by a mini usb can definitely be felt.The design is great looks and feels genuine both the colors and plastic, the buttons works all the time without any issues and bounces straight back up when pressed only further highlights that this is definitely not a product made out of cheap parts, 8Bitdo did a great job on the G Bros.PS: As of writing this there has been an update to the G Bros device which fixes a couple of issues, this update can be downloaded from the 8Bitdo website.UPDATE: As soon as i wrote this review my G Bros stopped working, it simply won't turn on anymore, it lasted from December(2018) to February(2019) - 3 months.

Using original hardware on a modern console is always a desire. This gizmo allows you to use a GameCube or Wii classic controller on the Switch. When you consider the cost of a good Bluetooth controller, this is an extremely cost effective solution.

Instead, it outputs random inputs when controller is connected. Nothing wrong with the controller itself, tested with other adapters.classic controller port works.

I've owned the G Bros adapter for a couple of days now. It appears that most people are reviewing this for Smash Bros on the Switch, but as I wanted the adapter for using Gamecube controllers on PC I thought I'd provide an alternative viewpoint.First the good:- The G Bros works absolutely flawlessly and with absolutely no input lag.- The latest firmware update (available from the official website) resolves the ability to use the triggers in analogue mode, which as a previous reviewer points out is an essential feature for a Gamecube controller.Now the challenges:- This device doesn't seem to play well with other pads, or indeed itself. I bought two of these devices, intending to use them together. The first connected like a dream, but the second wasn't registering at all. My assumption was that the second was faulty, but after trying it on a fresh PC it worked fine. In addition, I had a cheap USB pad connected to a third PC. Connecting my G Bros to that PC didn't work at all. There's some underlying issue here with how the pad talks to the PC and registers itself, but I will need to do some more digging to understand exactly what.- X-Input. In order to use the device with a PC it uses X-Input. This is an API (Application Interface) developed by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 controller. This means that the device basically tells the PC it's an Xbox controller. This works great with something that uses X-Input natively (such as Steam), but with other third party gaming software it struggles to interface properly. A solution to this is to map the controller buttons to keyboard keys (something that X-Input supports), but see below why that isn't currently possible.- Software. It's pretty clear at this moment that 8bitdo's software offering isn't ready for the G Bros. There are two key pieces of software here. 1. The Firmware Updater. This is used to easily update the firmware on the G Bros (see above, this is essential from the second you receive the device). Unfortunately it doesn't yet support the G Bros, requiring you to update the firmware using another hashed together interface. My Avast antivirus picked this up as a potential virus (it isn't) and blocked it, meaning I had to turn off my whole antivirus for 10 mins just to install it. Basically a massive faff and will be intimidating if you haven't updated firmware before. 2. X-Input Key Mapper. This allows you to map the Gamecube controller to keys on the keyboard, allowing you to use non-X-Input native gaming applications. Unfortunately after downloading the software and running it I was presented with a blank screen, which suggests it doesn't yet support the G Bros.- Bluetooth 4.0. This is less of a concern as 8bitdo are very up front in warning about this. If you don't have Bluetooth version 4.0 on your PC, then expect to require a new dongle. I ran this on a PC with less than Bluetooth 4.0 and it was far too laggy to use.All in all, this is still a great adapter. It allows the wireless connection of Gamecube controllers, which is great especially if you don't want to buy a 10 year old Wavebird or one of the modern cheap knock-offs. If you're planning to use it for Smash Bros on the Switch then great, but if you want to use it for PC be aware that 8bitdo need to do some serious work updating their software offering, along with a couple of firmware updates, before this is going to do anything less than make you want to throw it against the wall.
