If you want some mashed potatoes for dinner, but really don't want to make them from scratch, get this product!I had my kids over for Thanksgiving 2024 and was gonna make a nice dinner, including garlic mashed potatoes. However, I didn't have time, nor did I want, to make the mashed potatoes by-hand with fresh potatoes. Therefore, I used this product with a little warm garlic-butter mixture I made at home.I am a good cook, so my kids were initially disappointed that I was using instant mashed potatoes. But when they tasted these Idahoan Instant Mashed Potatoes, my kids both said that they were very good and the best instant mashed potatoes they had eaten.I think they are as good as any "fresh" mashed potatoes that I could have made by-hand, but my kids still want me to make them the old-fashioned way. Not gonna do it! I'm definitely sticking with these Idahoan Mashed Potatoes from now on.Excellent Product. Highly Recommend.

I ordered this product to have it on hand in case fresh potatoes become scarce during this pandemic. I remember how instant potatoes tasted 60 years ago and dreaded having to use this product. I, in a lazy moment, decided to make up a meal using these for myself and my two young grandchildren. I prepared them with milk, butter, salt and pepper and served them. Both children loved them so much that they were asking for more before I could sit down to enjoy my meal! I cooked up another batch and they also went (even after I insisted they eat their main entrée and veggies!) I tried mine and was pleasantly surprised. They were delicious, creamy and fluffy with a natural potato flavor (not the cardboard box flavor that I remembered). They are a bit pricey now compared to what I remembered (back in the 50's my parents bought them because they were inexpensive). Now they are truly a luxury product - but worth it if you can get around the cost.

Unlike some other brands, these Idahoan plain mashed potatoes are delicious and have a good texture. I like to keep it on hand at all times, it has become a pantry staple for me.

These are great instant potatoes...but the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because of one thing that the instructions don't mention: Because I am lactose intolerant, instead of bringing the water, butter and the MILK to a boil, I added chicken broth and brought everything to a boil. I did NOT add COLD MILK right BEFORE I mixed in the potato flakes. I knew you have to add a little bit of potato flakes at a time, which I did...but the pan BOILED OVER immediately everywhere. That has NEVER happened to me before, and it was a big surprise! Apparently the COLD MILK cools everything down enough that this doesn't happen. BE CAREFUL! By the way, I also added a few tablespoons of SOUR CREAM to the potatoes after I added everything and mixed it up. Really nice touch... try it!

Good base to fluff the potatoes how you like to. Easy to make and delicious taste.

Great for a quick side. We've all had them.Weeknight side perfect, NOT for chefs I guess. ENJOY A CLASSIC

I hated dehydrated potatoes for ever and ever and that is more than 70 years. However, we gave these a try hoping to reduce the waste and expense of taters spoiling in the pantry. Not only do these make great mashed potatoes but we use them for potato cakes and they taste great and have a good tator texture. Hmm, after how many years these folks have got it right.
