One of the better quality adapters out there
Sounds a lot better than most other (cheaper) adapters I've tried. Build quality could be better though. After a couple of weeks of light use the sleeve that houses the female end of the adapter slipped off. Doesn't affect the functionality though.

Great TRRS to TRS adapter - tight connections, sound quality is good
This is an adapter that will allow certain microphones, such as lavalier mics, to work on a computer or other device that requires a TRS plug instead of a TRRS plug. If you are unfamiliar, there exists a TS plug, a TRS plug, and a TRRS plug. The T stands for tip, the R for ring and the S for sleeve. So, a TS plug would just be a tip and sleeve, with one black line. This carries mono audio. TRS would be a tip, ring, and sleeve, with two black lines. This carries stereo sound. A TRRS plug, then, consists of a tip, ring, ring, and sleeve, and this carries stereo sound and a signal for a mic. My PC has a separate jack for the mic and headphones, so the mic jack is TRS. I guess in this case, instead of the stereo sound, it carries the signal for the mic. I have a mic from the same manufacturer as this adapter, and that mic comes with this same adapter. I just wanted an extra. It works great, and the various components fit together tightly. If you aren’t sure if you need an adapter like this, it may depend. The microphone I have has a TRRS plug and will not work on my PC without the adapter. Some devices have a single port, so a mic that has a TRRS male end may work with those devices without the adapter, but I don’t know if that’s universal. I haven’t tested any mic with a Chromebook at all, and those have a single jack. I’ve heard that they an adapter that has one male end to plug into the jack and two female ends, one for the mic and one for headphones, so you may need that kind of adapter instead of this one if your mic isn’t working, or maybe this one will work fine. I’m not sure. At any rate, I am happy with this adapter as it fits my needs perfectly.

Perfect!
First off, to be clear this adapter is for using a TRRS type mic with 4 conductors (3 rings and one tip) in a standard TRS 3 conductor mic jack, where the standard plug only has two rings and the tip. I'm using this the plug in a small lavaliere mic on my desktop PC, the PC's front audio jacks are separate, one MIC and one Headphone jack. The mic I'm using came with an adapter of the same type which worked fine, but it was rigid, one solid piece, which left the whole assembly sticking out the front of my computer and much more likely to be damaged. I replaced it with this one since it has a small length of flexible cable with a connector on each end, which works FAR better than the one long rigid piece. Functionally it's the same, physically it's much cleaner and neater, and far less likely to be damaged. It seems to be constructed well, and works perfectly fine, I recommend it!

It never worked from day 1 - bad connection
This connector never worked from the day I got it. It's a cheap, badly-made item. Spend a few more dollars on a quality product so you don't waste your time or money.

The best of several I tried
I bought several adapters of various brands that are all functionally equivelant. But I liked these best: for the thinness of the connectors, the fit of the connectors, the thickness and flexibility of the cable, and the sturdiness of the build. After evaluating the first one, I bought a few more.

Works great
The Powerdewise adapter failed so I tried the Panda brand and it has held up great.

This product is probably doing what it was intended for - microphones! It does however NOT convert a 4-ring headset (with mic) plug to a 3-ring STEREO AUDIO plug. It will simply not let any sound go through to your headset. Dead. No sound. Nada. Silence. Got it? Again, it does not work for STEREO AUDIO plugs (output). Instead this adapter seems to be intended for MICROPHONE cables (input), which is why some people here think it works great while others, like me, found that it does not work at all (for stereo audio sound cable to my headset). Mystery solved. I bought two of these, thinking it would solve my audio-connection problem, but due to the misleading presentation of the product, none of the works for my audio-connection problem. So I had to dump them both in the trashcan.

Here is the electrical connection as measured: 4-pin female T - Not Connected R - Not Connected R - 3-pin male Sleeve S - 3-pin male Ring and Tip If that is what you are looking for, fine. I expected the electrical connection described in the advertisement. If found it not usable for my purpose (headset adapter) and will return the product.
