Good book, good quality. maybe missed some details here and there, but maybe was not the scope of the book.

Very technical, but also very good book. If you have a decent amount of engine mechanics, this will help you to understand much more. It won't qualify you as a machinist, but help you to understand and plan where to spend the money on your engine build. Also help you to communicate intelligently with a machine shop.

Was expecting a well explained step by step guide on how to blueprint an engine for some who wants to learn engine building, instead the book mostly shows how to use tools that are quite expensive for some one thats not an engine shop, topics are mostly general descriptions on different subjects but not actualy going into detail on how to do things practicly, if you have no knowlegde on the subject then this book might confuse you as its not a step by step blueprint guide then you might as well look elsewhere.

I had employed lots of these basic techniques over the years and tried to understand the value they would add to my engine/gearbox. I personally found the book great for daydreaming, lack of machine shop and money.and to understand where I should spend my pension to best effect. I keep reading it in odd moments and planning the next motor. Do give it a try.
