Why is this so exp expensive?

I can't figure it out myself. My son has one, exactly as pictured, and it's a nice toy, but $40 nice not $300 nice. There is absolutely no reason this should be so expensive, unless of course it came with Handy Manny live and in the flesh, and he just appears whenever something around the house is broken and fixes it for you with hassle and at no additional cost.

Do the tools talk outside of the tool box?

No. They only dance when they are in the box. But the toy is wonderful.Best

what is the size of the tools?

Not sure on size. I bought 2 for my twin grandsons. I gave them to them when they were 1 and easily handled them. They are 3 1/2 now and still play nicely with tools. They totally loved them and still do.
