Yes, the LP-E4 & LP-E4N are compatible.However,# LP-E4 will not give you the same number of shots as LP-E4N# You cannot completely charge a LP-E4N in the old 1D MarkIV charger (LC-E4), while the LP-E4 can be completely charged in LC-E4N.HTH!

Question one I'm not sure. I can tell you that it works perfect in the camera. It seems to fully charge in the camera charger. I have experienced no problem whatsoever
