FD-R2000 Claris 8-Speed Front derailleur, Double 28.6/31.8/34.9 mm

Shimano doesn't make junk. This group set is perfect for vintage restorations that are 8 speed 20 years ago this would have won the tour........sure it's not dura ace but the average rider will be pleased as punch!

Excellent, smooth shifting derailleur. I exchanged my entire drivetrain for the latest Claris groupset and flats to drops. My bike came with a very strange combo in the OEM drivetrain. I chose the 11-28t cassette, 34/50t crankset, and it's perfect for my riding segments. For the price of components I can play with different combos before deciding on a midrange road bike next year. Install and adjustment were hassle free.

Like a lot of newer derailures, DOES NOT have a place for the caable housing to go. I needed to add an extera housing lug. Also, If tiu have a 2 gear front, get a 2 gear derail . 3 gear wide makes it hard to adjust. I used on a 50 year old Raielgh, so bear that in mind. Other than that

The biggest issue is that there is no cable stop on this deraileur. Perhaps it is made for a specific application, however there is very little product information. There are no instructions in the box and no good video's for installation. I tried several ways to connect the shifter cable but it whould not pull the deraileur in the correct way. I engineered a cable stop using part of the old deraileur and that worked. In the end I shoudl have just returned this product. After 30 minutes of use the plastic chain guide inside the deraileur arms popped off. Shimano used to mean somethign but now it is just press fit plastic parts.

Solide et simple, mais esthétiquement beau. Suivez attentivement les instructions de montage (et non les vidéos YouTube) même si elles sont inutilement compliquées, sinon vous perdrez beaucoup de temps.

These work fine (I have fitted two). Ensure it parallels the large chainring for good gear changes. Be sure that the cable pull angle is not too acute because the resultant leverage results in tough changing low to high, depends on the bike. Also, there is a replaceable black plastic 'skid plate' on one of the guides which wears out eventually (resulting in extremely tough changing) - so get a spare if a heavy user. If your chainring is too eccentric, use the flat jaws of an adjustable spanner to bend it a little.
