Great Family Game!
Fantastic game! Both fun and a great way to learn about our national parks. If you like playing Ticket to Ride, you'll enjoy this game as well. Both the adults and older kiddo (12+) enjoyed playing together.

Just buy it for best family nights!
Love, love, love this game! Our family has different opinions about interesting board games but this one caught the attention of everyone! I have 8 & 10 yrs old both loved it, its easy to learn even though might feel challenging with the rules it got, very creative how many steps it had to keep the fun going, introduces the national parks and its colors are beautiful and the board size is just right! We so far enjoyed it for 3 nights straight, tons of fun definitely recommend and worth the price!

Easy to learn, fun to replay with different strategies
My wife bought me this game for my birthday and it is already one of my favorites in our whole collection of board games. We have played it multiple times now. It only takes about 30-45 min to finish a game, so we always end up playing at least twice in a row. It is super easy to learn the rules, but there are multiple strategies to try to beat your opponent before the game ends, so the game doesn't get boring. You can try different ways to earn points each time you play through. The game has multiple goals to work toward, and the trick is to figure out how to work toward 2 or more goals at the same time. In addition to the fun gameplay it is nice to learn about and discuss the different National Parks. It has inspired us to visit them all some day! The only slightly negative thing about it - which I don't mind, personally - is that the map of the United States is a little squished horizontally. It's a lot of land to fit on a map board, so I can understand why they did it. It only stuck out to me before we played our first game but I don't even think about it anymore because it doesn't affect gameplay and the game is super fun. Final words: Great game, well designed, lots of replay value, excited to try it with more than 2 people in the future. Definitely a good purchase, IMO. I also like to rate a product by deciding whether I would buy it again if my copy got damaged or lost and YES, I would buy Trekker again.

Great Lighthearted Strategy Game for Adults - Sub for Catan
Received Trekking The National Parks board game as a Christmas gift from my husband, and it has been a lot of fun. As National Park lovers, this board game has quickly become a favorite in our household. The combination of fast-paced gameplay, strategic elements, and the educational aspect of learning about national parks resonates well with us, as we are real-life park fans ourselves. Also, cool to see the inspiration behind the game. We've played it with adult family members (ages 20 to 54) and it has been a blast. The game is easy to learn, ensuring everyone can dive into the adventure without unnecessary complexities. The fact that it's suitable for kids aged 10 and up makes it a versatile choice for family game nights. What's truly impressive is that despite its simplicity, the game doesn't lose its charm. We haven't grown tired of it, and each playthrough offers a unique experience as we explore different national parks. Highly recommended for those who enjoy a quick, engaging, and educational board game experience. It has been a great addition to the game collection and a good substitute for Catan if you like that game and want to switch things up!

Easy going, family fun
We had fun playing the game the first time today. It don’t take very long and the instructions were easy to follow. It’s takes a little strategy but it’s more fun than challenging. The pieces are of good quality; I wish they were different colors and the stones weren’t plastic. The colors could have been more muted, such as olive green, mustard, burgundy, etc., as opposed to primary colors. Take a quick look at the pieces for Wingspan and you’ll understand.

So much fun!
This game was a gift for my fourth grade grandson. It’s his favorite game to play right now. Pros: Beautiful game. Lots of room for strategy. Kind of like chess, you have to think ahead. Points are earned by collecting stones, claiming park cards, occupying one of the major national parks, and collecting the most of the various colors of stones. So, one player may be working to earn points by claiming parks and one may be working to collect points by collecting stones. The parks cards are fun to read! The first game we read every card we collected out loud to each other. There’s a place for everything in the box, and it fits easily. While the game board is not a scale map of the US, (because the proportion of National Parks in the West if greater) it does give a general idea of the location of the parks. The bear playing piece adds to the interest. The parks cards have beautiful, color photos from the parks. I was able to buy a companion book from Bink Ink, Trekking the National Parks, Park Guide Book. The book is fun to read on its own with more beautiful photos. We are already adjusting some of the rules to make the game, and the enjoyment of it, last longer. Cons: The rules were a little confusing initially. The first time we played, we did some things differently, but still had fun. There is video available of how to play, the paper with the video information was located as we were putting the game away. The board is quite large. My 30 inch round coffee table is the usual game spot, and the board overhangs the edges. We added a tv table to hold some of the cards that are layed out.

So fun!
Such a fun game! Easy to explain to others so you can start playing right away. A fun way to also start thinking about your next national parks trip.

Family Strategy Game
This is our new favorite family board game. I was skeptical when my wife brought it up as a Christmas gift idea, thinking it was "educational" in the usual boring way. Not at all! This is a real strategy game that also happens to introduce the national parks as a bonus. Our 6-year old daughter picked it up right away, and now asks her grandparents to play it and everyone is happy to oblige. The game mechanics will be familiar to people who play Euro-style games. There's a strong resemblance to Ticket to Ride, although with a set-collection element and the need to travel around the board to visit the parks, which fits very well with the overall theme. One interesting feature is that the trek cards, which are the currency of the game, have both numbers and colors which are used in different ways. The numbers move your player around the board, and the colors "claim" or "occupy" parks (that part is a little off-theme. You can't claim an actual national park. We all own them!). You win by visiting, claiming, or occupying parks. There is plenty of player interaction, but none of it is overly aggressive and frustrating like when the route you have been saving for in Ticket to Ride gets blocked and your entire strategy is ruined. You can bump other players back to start, like in Sorry, but the results are not as bad as it seems. Sometimes you may be want to be bumped. Someone could grab a national park card before you get there, but you can usually salvage your game by adapting to new cards that are revealed. This makes for a pleasant experience for families who still plan to live in the same house when the game is over. We've played this a handful times in the last week, and to will probably be a staple of the family game time for quite some time.
