Phenomenal for the price!
Alright, so I'm a tech guy, love anything electronic! I have had CCTV cameras in my house for years. I've been using Swann wired cameras for the most part with mixed emotions. But running new wires to upgrade the system just didn't excite me. I had been looking at NEST cams since I have the smart Thermostats and Smoke/Carbon-monoxide detectors for a while, but the price is ridiculous! Plus your only option with them is cloud service (an additional cost). Then I spoke with a neighbor who sent me a screen shot from his YI camera. I must say, the quality was pretty impressive. So I bought a four pack for $119.00 with moderate expectations. Let me tell you I'm super impressed with the picture quality of these cameras. Set up is quick and easy. When I purchased them I had no idea they had audio as well. The audio quality is incredible, plus it's a two way speaker. Purchased 32 GB SD cards for all of them so I didn't need to use cloud storage and it's been working great! I have them set to record all motion and I usually have about 7 days of history on each camera. Day and night vision are both spectacular IMO. I have attached several photos so you can see the quality both day and night. Side note, I have a couple "indoor cams" mounted outside. To do this I purchased a rubber sleeve/cover from Amazon to make the drop cam weather resistant for outdoor application. It's been through rain, sleet and snow with out issue so far. Link to cover: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FD5XHMP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 A couple cons, the power cable is sooooooo short. I had to purchased longer cables for a couple of my installs. No biggie, they are only a few dollars here on Amazon. The app for iOS is very functional, but it has no multi camera view which would be a nice option.

These Little Guys Do the Job!
I have purchased dozens of security cams over the years and FINALLY, someone got it right. These little guys do the job and for the money it's a no-brainer. I have purchased over 15 of these cameras for 3 different properties. I also use "Frienda Wall Mount Bracket" for outdoor use with direct rain exposure with no failures. I have several mounted outside under the eave of the roof so that it does not get rained on and they work great with no housing whatsoever. I also use the Fuji 32GB card so that I have full playback surrounding any alert (or can record continuously). The app is very intuitive and easy to review the highlights. In the attached video from house we have on the market, this scumbag actually broke in and stole all 5 cameras (1 inside and 4 outside), so I did not have access to the detailed footage. However, this is the 6 second clip from the alert, which is the free cloud service that comes with the camera. Given the price of the cameras, it was very inexpensive to replace them all and I have. This time, with the 24x7 cloud service so that the video is preserved even if the cameras are taken. The video quality of the alert is not HD, but the live view and the recorded view on the card is full HD. Also, the sound is surprisingly clear for such an inexpensive camera. Some of the units are better than others and there is some interference in the sound on some of them. But generally pretty good. The night vision is pretty good considering the price point. The motion detection is my only complaint. I get a lot of false alarms for even a small bug flying by, even with sensitivity set at the lowest level. But this is manageable. The sound detection is not much use to me since I have no crying babies in my application. It would be nice if they had an option for other sound detection. The installation is quick and easy and I have installed on several configurations of wifi and routers without a problem. The app is better than any I have worked with in the past. This is a big deal. If it is cumbersome or time consuming to look at the footage, then you won't do it. The way they implemented the app is very intuitive and easy to navigate. I also have the app installed on my Mac and Finally, I give Yi high marks for the business model. A lot of companies try to gouge you on the cloud service by providing an inferior non-cloud service. Yi gives you a choice. You get a free "alert only for 7 day look-back" at no charge. So you don't even need a memory card for this. If you want to upgrade to a cloud service, they have a lot of options so you can pick what you want at a reasonable price. Or, you can use the card solution with up to 32GB capacity, which, depending motion settings and the amount of motion, could last for days or even months. I get about 2 weeks in most of my applications. But, as in the case of my video example, this comes at a risk of losing footage if the scumbag makes off with the cam. But the user has the choice, which is what I like. Bottom line: I HIGHLY recommend this product.

Waste!
Update 2025 Started getting ads a year or so ago. Have an urgent notification? Doesn’t matter. You can’t see it until the ad is over. Now I get a new pop up ad every time I look at the video. Rewind? Ad. Fast forward? Ad. I would advise against anyone getting cameras for security that have endless ads. Your security may be at risk not only because you can’t check the cameras quickly, but because a camera service with this may endless pop ups who are nickel and diming their customers with endless costs, and new costs that pop up too, seems fishy and troubling! Update 7-23-21 After finally getting the bugs worked out in 2019, and having pretty good service, I find that the service I originally agreed to when purchasing these cameras, (the ability to watch video without a subscription), I now can only see 6 second clips. Don’t waste your money and buy from a company that doesn’t devalue their product by taking away what you paid for. Another new update. 4-29-19 My iCloud subscription ended. I re bought it. Money was taken from my account. My cameras couldn’t be attached to it. Wrote an email to support. No response. Called. Was told it’s a tech issue so they sent my email again. Told me in 24 hours I’d get a reply. Nothing. Wrote on Facebook. Told to email support or call again. It’s been 7 days and now that subscription I just bought says it’s expired just a week into a 3 month plan. Can’t get a reply back from support. Don’t waste your money or time on this product. The support has never been helpful. New update!. I have since upped my review from a 2 to a 4. The app is now working so I get alerts on time now instead of late. I’m not losing service as often as I was. It does still go out but not as often. After re adding my not working camera multiple times, I finally had to add it to a different network and it works. I cannot have all 4 on one because they won’t work I’ve had to add this last one to my second router. But it works now and I can see my house when I’m away and check in! At the price it’s worth it. I’ve purchased the 3 month subscription 7 day cloud and I like that too! I’m happy the product is working now and they fixed the app! Old review. So I’ve had these cameras now for 2.5 weeks and here’s my review so far. First the look. I like them a lot, they are small, really easy to set up and connected right away. I was really impressed! I bought the 4 pack so I could have one at each of my doors to see who comes and goes. The first few days it all worked really well. However it didn’t last long and almost daily like this morning, the cameras “failed to load data” or “we have difficulty reaching the server, app experience May be limited, try again later”. This is my free trial of the cloud service and I’m just not at all impressed or happy with the iCloud service or the app. I didn’t want cameras that would need an SD card, I don’t want to have to check them each day and plug them in and all that. I want alerts that say “hey there’s movement check it out. I have the 4 pack and when they do work I have 3 cameras I get my alerts for with activity. But 1 camera never sends alerts. I see activity but even with all the correct settings it just never has sent me any alerts. When the app works and it can connect, I love it! It’s easy to use! But even when it does work you don’t get alerted of any activity until sometimes hours after it went off. I thought we could have trouble during the day with connection, when the internet’s being used but this is at night and early morning mostly when no ones is up and online. We have service, they just can’t connect to it. I’m giving it more time. I did email support and they just told me there’s app problems. I’ll give it time to see if it resolves and update my review if it starts working again because I’m hoping it will get fixed. But so far having to now buy SD cards and manually check it, is a daunting feeling and not sure worth the hassle in the age of wireless options. I’m not giving up on it just yet. The iCloud service only has an option to save “alerts” for 7 days and 15 for all cameras, but if you want continuous recording for all 3 cameras it’s very expensive, and since the alerts don’t work so often, who knows if it’s even saving/recording anything anyway.

Mostly good camera with a few flaws
I bought these cameras because I have a puppy that I am training for puppy manners and to potty outside. He's a German Shepherd and is ... too smart. He has found if outside conditions aren't to his liking, he'll quickly pee outside, come back inside, quietly sneak away to a blind area, and return like nothing ever happened (only for me to find the blind area in my socks later). He also likes to cut his teeth in on boxes and tennis shoes. So, I bought these cameras, aimed them at the floor towards his favorite spots, and set the motion detection alarms. That works beautifully. I set up a chime specifically for the cameras on my phone separate from my other indicators so I can pounce. I would say set up was easy but there was one hiccup- the package gives a QR code for a Chinese App Version which will not allow you to register. You have to go into the app store and find the Yi Home American version. Once you do that, set up is a breeze. The other take away is that their cloud storage is rather pricey. You can record to a SD card, however, but without a memory card, it only gives you 6 seconds of playback. Fortunately for me, I just need the extra set of eyes and tattletale alerts and so far, it's working and helping me catch him before he makes my carpet his second bathroom. The picture quality is surprisingly good. I can zoom in and read the print on the side of a box. It automatically switches to night vision and the picture quality is pretty good. I can screenshot images as well. Last (but not least) I am sure my dog thinks I have omniscient powers in that my disembodied voice can speak to him through the cameras. Cheap, effective, works as advertised with drawbacks being pricey subscription for cloud storage and no included material that is region specific for set up (had to waste time for experience and research about the US App Version).

Excellent 1st system
If you are starting out with a home/office surveillance system, you definitely want to try these out. They work as advertised and you do NOT need a cloud subscription if you wish for simple surveillance; you'll want the cloud option if you wish to keep recordings for a long time. The iOS//Android app works as advertised. The Windows-based application is what you really need for your home as it will let you display a matrix of a 9-panel view. That's right, y ou can permanently display a nine-camera view to actively monitor your areas. You can have up to TWELVE (12) cameras under a single account. This works perfectly for home or small office environments. The PC-based app allows you to display a 9-panel matrix view of the cameras; awsome feature. With THAT summary out of the way, here is what you'll need to know: I'd suggest you do NOT buy the dedicated outdoor version of this camera if you need secrecy; the dedicated outdoor version of these cameras have their IR bulbs glow red. This makes them visible to humans and lets everybody know where you cameras are. If you are looking for discreet outdoor placement of your cameras (for security reasons one would think you WOULD be) then purchase the interior 4-pack; the interior cameras do not have their IR LEDs glow red. (See attached picture) (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CW4CEMS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Then, follow up with the purchase of an outdoor case for each: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078MXH7WZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 You can spray paint each one to "fit" the color of your house (which'll make them even more discreet and provide additional resistance to the elements. The best part of these little cameras is that with the use of a simple 25ft USB cable extension, you can place these cameras almost anywhere around your house (since they only need the standard 5v input) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0763358FV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Oh, and if you need additional range, these little gems are "Americas Choice" for a reason: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0195Y0A42/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have implemented all of the above to put together a very simple and inexpensive surveillance system for a typical suburban location. See attached video for quality sample. Take a look at the above 4 links and you're creative mind will lead you to the rest. Remember that, like the military, you'll want "fields of fire" coverage so plan your installation to have each camera "cover" part of the area that another camera is "covering". With the ability to have 12 cameras on a single account, you'll be able to cover your entire exterior area. I'd also suggest this little gem for your car. It is inexpensive, works at night, has a microphone that you can enable & disable, and with the included 3M sticker, the mount does NOT fail in hot weather: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078MXH7WZ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Good luck and have fund. Remember that a simple system like this is better than NO system at all AND it gives you peace of mind.

Too many ads in 2026, used to love these cameras
Used to love these cameras, but now in 2026 there are so many ads just to get into the home screen of the app its insane. These are supposed to be security cameras but now I have to go through ads just to be able to get to a camera so how am I supposed to sit through a minute ad when someone could be breaking into my house??? That is insane. We have a Ring doorbell & there are zero ads on there. Will be purchasing a different brand for in home security cameras as these have become unhelpful due to the ads. We have 12 of these so it is unfortunate that the ads have become so intrusive.

Possible glitches with cameras. 2 out of 8 down
So I've bought these before. I have 8 I use to keep eyes on my animals and on the outside of my house. I honestly liked them for the price. Decent quality, decent night vision, the motion detector does ok, it doesnt record every motion but does catch some things. I recently moved, packed them all into a box, but now that I've set them up I have 2 not working which sucks. One refuses to do anything at all. No lights, no automated voice, nothing. The second one goes through all of the process of setting it up, but can't follow through on the final step. I've set these up, I'm doing it correctly, it's some type of malfunction/glitch. These are not old cameras. I bought them between november 2018-January 2019. I was also very careful when moving, and they were the only items in the box. There is not damage to the cords or camera, and yet I have 2 that I cannot use. So far the other 6 are working with no problem. I just went and bought 4 more, AND got the protection plan for 3 years in case I run into more issues. Wanted to leave my honest feedback about the product. I liked them a lot, but 2 out of 8 going down leaves me slightly concerned, hence the 3 stars. Since I moved them (even though I was careful), I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt...hence the 4 new ones I ordered. Will update with a new review if more go down. Again, for the price, not a bad buy

Magnificent!
I am totally sold on these little home cameras. Wow!! They are truly a magnificent product. I'm very, very impressed. I've had them for roughly 3 weeks now and they pick up everything! I am using them inside the house facing outside. So there is a lot of motion they are detecting and they never miss a beat! I've already captured some things that are very worthy of reporting. I am using mine with the 32GB SD card, which fills up in roughly one week. However, it's easy to reset! Just click on the SD card within the settings of each camera and reset the card. It will erase the videos and start over. Super simple! The picture quality, sound quality, and the options within the settings of these cameras make them ideal. I will definitely buy again, and I would highly recommend! As for customer service, I had one particular camera in my pack of four that would not reset or connect to wifi. After lengthy trouble-shooting with my provider and the camera, the camera was the common denominator in all the results. I spoke with an Amazon rep who connected me with the manufacturer. They took my info, I submitted the form online, and they quickly sent me a new camera free of charge! I was very impressed! They were timely and professional and it was an easy process as well. The only con I would say they might have is they pick up motion irrespective of what is moving. It could be a bird flying, a tree branch, or even reflective lights at night. They will alert you to it all. So there are a lot of false positives. But that's okay with me. I'd rather have a camera that is too sensitive rather than one that misses important things. With these, I know for certain they will NOT MISS anything!! I see it all!! Can't speak well enough of these little cameras. They are IDEAL. If anything changes I will update this review accordingly. For now, all is quite well. I'm 100% satisfied.

Great product
These cameras work very well. They want you to buy a cloud storage, but I just use a micro SD card to keep the cost down. If you’re having reservations about buying these cameras, don’t hesitate. They are very good inside the house. I have already had four and my dog got a hold of one and now I just purchased two more.

I give up. Great cameras killed by ads and a useless app.
I bought these to be able to check on the house when I’m not home. Easy to set up. Not too obvious. Work great with the app. You can turn the cameras/mics on/off with the app. Nice wide view. Pics are clear. I ended up putting two in my front window to see the front of the house. They’re inside, and with the IR turned off, I get great views through the glass with the cameras safe and warm. My doorbell crapped out and I wanted other family members to be able to see who was at the door before answering. The app walks you through inviting up to five other users. Decide on their access options. Email them an invite. They download the app, create an account and - crickets. No access to my cameras. After a half hour’s search through the help line, sharing is only available through the paid subscription account. Gotcha!! So I could use _my_ account on every one of our phones, but then, every time someone checks it out, it logs everyone else out of the app and I can’t log back in fast enough to see who’s out front. The paid subscription (which includes cloud image storage) is under ten dollars a month. But I would have liked to know that before I bought the cameras and four 64gb memory cards. Edit: Dec 2023 - I’ve had it with these cameras. Or rather the app. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t see who’s outside because they’ve driven away before the app opens, decides I’m me, shows me an ad or two, and then loads my camera feed. Without the subscription - which, now more than ever, I am loathe to try - it seems I am at the mercy of the apps ad base. I get it. It’s expensive to run. But I paid for the equipment and app with my purchase. Edit: Feb 2024. I’m done. With today’s app update I can’t even get past the ads to load my video feeds in under 3 minutes. I’ms shopping for new cameras and Amazon suggests these. No thanks.
