Does it tear/rip easily or seem weak enough to not handle brush

The pants are pretty bomber. Most sitka gear is.

I prefer a shorter "Rise" for the crotch... do hey fit snug or hang low, leaving space?

Lower. They fit much like relax fit jeans.

I usually wear a 34 pant but occasionally need to double size up for my thighs, should I order a size up just in case?

Doesn't hurt to size up for layering. they have some hip give but I did up a size from 36 to 38 and there the best pant you'll ever own.
