Table Tasty version - Great tasting salt substitute
Love the taste and health benefits of this Table Tasty version of Benson's. Have been using it for a couple of years after my brother gave me a humongous package of it. Has a slight lemon flavor. Table Tasty blend really is a nice salt substitute with nutritional yeast as a primary ingredient plus other herbs and ingredients - and without added potassium, important to those of you for whom added potassium can be detrimental to your health. The quality and taste of Table Tasty absolutely warrant 5 stars. Because of that, I didn't deduct any stars but you should know this about Benson's small shake-top container. After only 3 uses, the thinner-than-normal, flimsy plastic flip-top lid has broken in half where the flip top connects to the screw-on base. Another problem is the size of the holes in the shaker top. Holes are much too large for table use, so instead of a sprinkle, it dumps way too much in one spot, yes even though I'm holding it a severe angle and trying to shake sparingly. I specifically ordered this small shaker-top version so I would have a container to shake on food after it was already prepared and plated. Today I'm going to swap the top out with a sturdier one from another brand spice container that has with smaller holes. I have also ordered a subscription of the large package of Table Tasty since I also use a lot of it in cooking. It's a staple in all of my savory foods recipes. For those of you who have have medical conditions and need to cook with no salt added and are trying to find good quality and affordable sources, I can also highly recommend Marshalls Creek Spices for their No Salt Added blends. My brother and I have been buying - directly - from Marshalls Creek Spices for years. Tons of spice blends available - NSA and regular - and cost is excellent, including shipping price. Their fliptop shake containers are much sturdier than Benson's. My brother has been buying from MCS longer than I have, and he now buys the bulk packages and refills his shaker containers which have been holding up well for 10+ years. Marshalls Creek Spices also offers several different container sizes including bulk packages. MCS also uses sturdy shipping boxes. This is in contrast to the soft-side envelope that Benson's small shaker-top version came shipped in from Amazon - in the same package as a set of hand towels and a blouse, so I'm glad the Benson's didn't get broken during shipping. Now that I found Benson's on Amazon and see that they have other flavor blends, not just their Table Tasty blend, I may try some of their others.

My FAVORITE Salt-Substitute ever!! LOVE! ♥
I absolutely love the flavor of this seasoning. I discovered it a few years ago & was using it up too fast, so I slowed it down for awhile, as it can get pricey. I need to be on a low-sodium diet & just have not discovered any seasonings that I really like, except for this one. I keep trying Mrs. Dash & others, but they are just meh! I use them, but I don't love them. So I'm back to buying this all the time. It has a lot of flavor, but it doesn't taste like regular salt. I feel like it's a salt-free seasoning, not so much a salt substitute per se. Remember everyone's taste buds are different. To me, it has a 'LEMONY-SOUR' flavor. I use it on so many things, but my favorite is on things with butter/margarine, such as baked potatoes, cooked vegetables, popcorn, etc. l also love it sprinkled on salt-free potato chips, low-sodium Ritz crackers, just about anything that needs a flavor boost. I've also used it on buttered toast as a simple snack. I've never used it for cooking, only for sprinkling on afterwards. Besides providing the much needed flavor for salt-free foods, I love that it has NO pepper, no garlic, no potassium chloride, no sodium. It's NOT spicy like so many other seasonings. If you're expecting a straight salt flavor, there's a chance you could be disappointed. But if you're open to trying a different kind of flavoring, I'd say to try it... I would use it even if I didn't need to watch my diet. A few cons: - The price. It has gone up quite a bit in the last few years. It's a small bottle & sprinkles out freely, so it goes fast if you use it often. It's expensive. - There are some crunchy, hard pieces dispersed throughout, pieces of dehydrated veggies, I believe, carrots etc. ~I could do without those~ I don't like biting into anything hard. I once read a review where a reviewer said she would grind it up, but I can't be bothered with that. - It can get 'cakey' on the bottom in humid weather. But it never lasts that long in my house. I've been known to bring it to restaurants with me. I recommend it & have done so to many people. 5 stars.

Good herb, Questionable salt substitute
The main ingredient here is yeast extract, so if you don't like the taste of yeast extract you probably won't like the substitute. And strictly speaking I really don't use it as a salt substitute. It is however a very nice blend of herbs, and I like it particularly well on vegetables, and have used it straight on chicken with just a little bit of pepper and squeezed lemon. There is also lemon rind in this, and a small amount of pepper, so I just bump up those two ingredients and make a nice lemon pepper chicken. I can completely eliminate salt on my vegetables with this substitute, and that's pretty significant for me. We still need to get iodine and most salt is the main place it comes from. I don't put this on my eggs and still use regular salt there to get my iodine. If your gluten-free then it's probably good to have a little bit of salt as it's also typically added to breads in the form of salts. Overall it's a really nice tasting herb, but not so sure I would really call it a salt substitute. You have to use a lot of it before it really taste salty, and not particularly pleasant in that concentration. I still think it deserves a place in your spice rack. I like the taste.

Not sure what the rave is about
Looking for alternative to butter and salt on popcorn-while this is not bad it’s not great. Tasty but surely no comparison to salt. May or may not not purchase it again for the stupidly high price. It might be better for other foods but that was not my concern.

Great Way to Add Flavor Without Reaching for Salt
I’ve been eating whole-food, plant-based for a few years now, but one thing I’ve had to admit is that I use too much salt because I really like the flavor it adds. So when I heard someone on YouTube recommend this seasoning, I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did. I really like it. It adds a nice zest to the foods I would normally put salt on and makes them more enjoyable. It does not taste like salt, so if you want something that is a true salt substitute, NoSalt may be a better choice. But if you just want something that adds good flavor and helps make food taste better, this is a great option. I started with the small bottle because I wanted to make sure I liked it before spending more money on it. Now that I’ve tried it, I can say I’ll be buying the big bag next time.

Outstanding alternative to salt
Been looking for a salt substitute and as well as one that did not have potassium chloride in it, as I am in heart failure and recently tried Accent and to my horror it caused my feet to swell up like nothing. I just got it yesterday and tried it today, well worth the $ spent, it tastes so much like salt and gives that great umami flavor highly recommended for anyone trying to reduce sodium and potassium.

Made me sick!
This stuff disrupted my stomach so bad from the yeast. Sick for over a day from it. I googled it and there's a side effect of exactly this from the yeast. Wish I knew sooner as it was pricey and now I will not use again! Actually, I'd give it no stars from my experience!

This stuff is great. I was skeptical
This stuff is great. I was skeptical, but it just tastes like a great seasoning - no bitter aftertaste or anything. I bought this for my mother who has blood pressure issues and needs to stop using salt. When I tasted it, I was surprised that I really liked it. She really likes it too. I put it on some salt-free potato chips and it tasted great. I've tried it on vegetables, pasta and potatoes and it tasted good. It's very flavorful - there is a bit of a dill taste to it. It definitely tastes like there is salt in it (anyone who says otherwise probably eats salt by the bucket and has messed up taste buds or something). No, it doesn't taste just like salt because it has a bunch of things in it with no sodium to give it a good flavor. But it really tastes like salt is an ingredient in the mix giving it a really salty flavor. I can see if it's not the preferred flavor for some people, but I don't know how anyone could say it doesn't have a salty taste. I've ordered a bottle for myself because the flavor is that good to me (plus I want to have an option with no sodium in it for my own health even though I don't have blood pressure issues).
