iFixit Mako Driver Kit - 64 Precision Bit Set for Electronics Repair

As the "tech support" family, our relatives come to us asking for repairs of various electronic devices. As simple as desktop PCs, and as complex as MacBooks or iPads. This one product has been the single best investment I have ever made in my tech repair career. You can teardown anything that is thrown at you, with the large variety of high-quality bits that are very resilient.The various sizes of standards like Philips, Flathead, and Torx help ensure that you will be suited for any situation. But the advantage of this kit is in the obscure bits. You can count on those Tri-Wing/Y bits to get you into Nintendo consoles and controllers without stripping the screw or the bit breaking. The Gamebit security screws helped turn a broken Virtual Boy into a fully-functioning unit. There are even Triangle bits which can help you fix kids toys. The tips are all magnetic, too, which is a plus in not losing screws to the abyss and having to shake them out of your device. The magnetic cover and sorting tray is an absolute GAMECHANGER. For years it was a hassle to keep screws organized and not misplace them during my repairs; especially so in taking breaks from a teardown. Now, I can sort them easily within the tray and visually remember the order they came from. If I am interrupted, I can simply place the bit set over the cover and not worry about screws becoming misplaced or out of order from a bump on the table. If you have a "tech support" family in your life and they don't have one of these yet, do them a favor. They make your life easier by setting up your printer, fixing your internet, removing viruses, replacing dead hard drives, fixing broken power ports, and so much more... now it's time to make their lives easier.

They make a great product. Magnetic box is perfect for opening and closing. Everything inside stays in place. The bits are easy to remove and replace. Every bit is labeled and the place where it attaches is labeled in the box. I have seperate precision screw drivers and this replaces all of them. You get what you pay for and this is worth the price. I used it to add an 8tb ssd in my PS5 Pro wich has 2 different screws. I didn't want to risk stripping them. This set handled it perfectly.

This little kit is top rate. With electronic devices having such a variety of screw types and sizes, I've already used this several times. In my case, I needed to remove a security screw on a video doorbell. I've only used a few of the bits, but it makes me confident that I will be prepared the next time I need to open or adjust an electronic device, without having to make a trip to the store. Everything including the case has a premium feel and appearance, and it's easy to close and store. I am very happy having this on-hand.

Excellent tool kit to have if you work on small electronics. Has just about every bit you would need for things like controllers, phones, laptops, and other devices. The handle feels comfortable, the bits fit well, and everything feels high quality instead of cheap. Definitely one of those kits you end up using more than you expected.

I have had this set for about 4 months now and want to take the time to do a proper review. I was impressed with how sturdy the driver, case, and all of the bits were immediately. However, with things like tools, I feel like looks can be deceiving. The only way to tell the true quality and comfort of them is through use on various projects and time. Well 4 months isn't a long period of time, but I feel I have used these on enough projects at this point to give an accurate opinion on their true quality. For starters, everything I've used in this kit has fit perfectly to its designated purpose. There are no loose fitting bits stripping out the heads of screws and no oversized ones needing to be filed down. I am just as happy about the ease of use and comfort. The driver is well made, perfectly weighted, and just the right size to fit in tight areas while allowing me to still have a full grip when I need to break free a tight screw. The layout of the bits with their angular placement is the most functional on any kit that I've used. They're easily identifiable while allowing constant access to all of the bits. There's no need to shuffle around others to get to the desired one. The entire kit is well thought out and a breath of fresh air with its simplicity. The lid is thick, heavy, and spacious enough to make the perfect parts' tray when I'm working outside of my normal workstation. When I'm working on things, I feel like everything flows from one step to another so much smoother now that I have this kit. I no longer am stopping and going every few minutes to change bits, replace my previously used bits, and to juggle my parts tray into the mix so I don't lose any parts. Finally, I'd like to address the lifetime warranty. Let's face it, there's hundreds of kits out there. You'd probably need a dozen of them to get all the special bits that come in this set. Who knows how many of those bits would be a one job and done tool. I've had bits in kits that didn't make it through the disassembly of a single controller, let alone multiple projects. This kit is made to last, and they stand by that. I speak based on experience. I recently had my first bit failure and decided to reach out to the iFixit team. I will add that this particular bit seemed to be a one off, mismanufactured piece as it portrayed none of the quality I've come to expect from this kit. The company responded to me post haste, and within 24 hours sent out not one, but two replacement bits for the one I had an issue with. Within two days, I received the well packaged replacements along with a pleasant note, and I couldn't be more impressed. I will not hesitate to purchase any other products that iFixit offers in the future. I am happy that I found this product and this great company that stands behind it. I highly recommend this toolkit to anyone, from those who want to try their hand at repairing their own electronics, to the avid electronics modifiers who need tools that last.

This is the second kit I've bought. These things are handy to have around in case you need a specialty bit. The screwdriver has a really nice ball bearing end piece to aid with quick screwing/unscrewing, the swivel extension also works well.

I bought this kit for three reasons: 1: the quality of the driver handle 2: the case 3: the bit selection Overall I am very pleased with the kit as is... but I would like to see it improved in the future if they revise it. Anyone that works on electronics or computers is very familiar with the fact that not only do you need tons of different types of bit drivers, but that often times those fasteners are buried deep down in little plastic holes and you need a long thin driver to get down in there. I really like the handle that comes in this kid. That was one of my primary reasons for buying it. However every time I turn around the bit that came with this kit are not long enough to be used in the application because they won’t reach down into the hole. They really should have designed all of these bits to have a shaft section about twice as long so that they would be a lot more useful. There would still be plenty of room in the existing case for the lid to shut with a bit that long and there would be way more utility for the set. I also need to add some insulated bits with a plastic tip for making adjustments to components on circuit boards were you don’t want to adjust them with a metal driver like a trimmer cap. That would be a nice touch. The flexible extension is handy but again it’s a little use if you’re trying to get the bit down a little bitty hole because if the head of the extension won’t fit down in there then it doesn’t matter. As far as the case, I think it’s great… I really like the way that the inside of the lid has a little ridges to keep passing or separated so that you can divide things up as you take them apart. I actually wish that the ridges we’re about twice as tall as they are although it works the way it is. If this were the only set of tools that I owned I would use it a lot more. I also own it’s big brother that uses the quarter inch drive bits and I believe it to be a nice kit as well with the same shortcomings and advantages.

This is a very comprehensive screw driver kit. There are enough bits for everything I have opened. And a lot of bits that I haven’t used. The flexible extension shaft and main handle are well made and feel solid to use. The lid has magnets at each corner to hold it in place. The inside of the lid has dividers to hold the screws you have removed so you can place them in individual compartments and not get them mixed up. It is amazing how handy that is. I would highly recommend this set.

I got this after being frustrated with the softness of other cheap screwdriver sets. I was working on an old pentax film camera and went through 3 different screwdriver sets that couldn't handle small and tight philips screws. Each of them had soft bits, and the philips bits kept shearing off in the screw heads. I gave this a try after seeing the many positive reviews and I'm very glad I did. My first attempt at removing a very tight and small philips screw was a success. The hardness and strength of these bits seems to be so much better than other sets in this price range. The bit holder also feels super nice. Both the texture on the grip, and the spinner on top. You can apply a good amount pressure to the spinning top while still being able to rotate the handle really smoothly. It's just a really nice tool to use. The magnetic bits are also really strong. Not lost a single screw yet. I also like the storage box. It separates into a bit holder and a storage tray with divisions for keeping screws in order. It's extremely handy and I really appreciate the design. I highly recommend this if you've been through a few other sets with soft bits. It's an incredible set for the price and I can see why it's reviewd so positively.
