Great Long Lasting Ball but for Supervised Play Only - Not a Chew Toy
Heavy but dogs love it. Depends on the dog, like every other dog toy. Smells horrible when it comes out of the box. Keep it outside until the smell subsides. It took a couple of months but much better. We've had the "soccer ball" equivalent of this for 2 years. I can verify that they hold up, but don't leave your dog unsupervised or they may chew through it. It's a play toy, not a chew toy.

Best toy I’ve gotten so far for my Aussie
EDIT; I had to come back and edit my review because after that first day, my dog is OBSESSED with this ball. It’s his favorite thing to play with now! No more issues with his jaw getting caught in the hole of the handle, & he goes crazy over it! I am so glad it turned out this way. Best toy I’ve gotten him so far I think! I wanted to give this a five star review so bad. I had been wanting to get my +50lbs Australian Shepherd one for a while and finally did. First few mins after getting it out of the package he was loving it. Rolling & carrying it around, I was bouncing it for him, he was loving it. But literally in less than 5 mins, I was watching him biting on the handle, & his lower jaw got stuck in the handle part and he yelped. But it was stuck for less than like a few seconds, he got it out. I think he just panicked for a sec. Now, he won’t touch it. I’m hoping that maybe tomorrow he’ll forget what happened and want to play again, but idk. I definitely wouldn’t leave your pets with this toy unattended. I realized afterwards that he most likely can get his bottom jaw stuck in that hole pretty good if he got it in there the wrong way. & if nobody was around I could see that causing an injury. I like the handle part, but now I kinda wish it didn’t have the hole in the middle and was just a solid handle. But, hopefully he’ll stop being afraid of it eventually because he definitely loved it when I first introduced it to him.

Not nearly as durable as those I bought years ago
I have purchased Jolly balls for my dogs for a very long time. I had an 8" Jolly ball purchased in 2008 that stood up to Irish Wolfhounds from puppyhood through old age, a Boxer, a Coonhound, and a Lab/Shepherd mix. All the larger dogs are gone now but when we got a new, smaller breed puppy that enjoyed the same ball I thought I would get another as the old one was starting to break at the handle. And that's fine, it stood up to hard use for 13 years. So I bought a new 8" Jolly ball in July 2025 and it has already been destroyed by a 15 lb puppy. The Jollypets website suggests the 8" ball for large dogs in the 60-90 lb. range, and this Amazon listing says 20-60 lbs. Either way a 15 lb. dog should not be able to destroy it yet my Miniature Poodle tore the handle right off in less than 80 days. I don't know if they have changed the material they are made of or what, but the durability I expected from past experience was nowhere to be found and I am profoundly disappointed in the quality of the newer Jolly ball. If a 15 lb. puppy can destroy a ball advertised for 20-60 lb. dogs (never mind 60-90 lbs.) something is wrong. I feel like Jolly should either replace this or refund my money. Obviously I am outside their return window, cannot prove manufacturer defect, and don't expect anything, but this really leaves a bad taste in my mouth for Jolly products.

Loves His Jolly Ball!
Our dog absolutely adores his purple Jolly Ball! It's the perfect size for our 70-pound pup, and he loves to carry it around with pride, grabbing it by the handle to shake it. He definitely gets a lot of enjoyment from it. When he bites down, it deflates but always springs back to its shape. We've had it for several months now, and aside from a few tooth marks and some dirt, it's still in fantastic condition. It's a great quality toy. Since it's large and makes no noise, it's ideal for the yard and hard to lose. We’re very happy with this purchase—our family would definitely choose it again without hesitation!

Great toy, but aggressive chewers can still destroy quickly
Ordered this for my young aggressive chewing puppy to play with outside. The ball is still intact but she chewed the handle off very easily and now they don’t play with it as they have no way to pick it up and carry around now.

Good toys, but the horse ones are better for large breed dogs
We have a four year old German Shepherd who absolutely loves his Jolly Ball time, but he destroys the dog Jolly Balls fast. They get lacerations and punctures all over them in just a few days which causes them to lose their shape. The horse ones are more durable and last weeks despite GSD. Be warned, if your dog thrashes these a lot their neck mucles will become very strong. With enough solo time playing with their Jolly Ball they will learn how to entertain themselves with it. Should you dog ever get a hold of a small animal (cat, rabbit, opposum, etc) it may not survive the encounter and may be tossed in the air and caught... or not. Last opposum to enter into our yard was tossed into the air and caught or our dog would let it hit the ground then would scoop it up only to thrash it around a bit before tossing it again. Basically, the same thing he will do with the Jolly Ball.

Not for heavy chewing dogs LOL
It's Great. Exactly what was discribed. I bought it for my 2 Great Danes, hoping they would play chase with it. Unfortunately, Atticus took one look at it, sniifed it and picked it up. Great I'm thinking, he likes it. He carried it to his bed and laid down with it. Then immediately chewed the handle off of it. I'm currently trying to figure out if it would be worth sewing a heavy canvas cover for it with a cloth handle. NOT the supplier or the manufacturor's fault. I should have known better.

My German Shepherd Approves!
My boy GSD Elias absolutely loves his Jolly Ball! This thing is basically indestructible. He bites down really hard on his toys and normally destroys them in no time, but this ball has held up amazingly well. It even has a hole on the opposite side that lets the ball deflate when he bites down, then it goes right back into its original shape. It's easily his favorite toy and keeps him entertained for a long time. Definitely one of the best dog toys we've bought! We highly recommend!🐾
