Good ol' Machine
Arrived sooner than expected. Works as described. I will only use this for an automotive diagnostic computer. After I updated Win 7 I surfed the web to see how it does and it worked good but a little slow. You know it's only a Dell Latitude. Very clean cosmetically, the battery holds a charge, great buy, I'm satisfied! Update: I did not use it a lot but I started to use it for business matters. I started to notice, it freezes up after about 15 to 20 minutes of use. This seems to be a problem that I did not notice because I never used it for an extended amount of time like I am using it these days. I had to replace the battery in the last month. The old one stopped holding its charge. I wish I had better things to add to my review. I still want to like this but the freezing up is something I will have to remedy. Thanks for read. If anyone has had this freezing problem please reply with something that you did to fix it. Thank you, John

Solid business class machine, great battery life
Very solid laptop. This is not a $500 best buy laptop, like Dell's Inspiron line. The Latitude is Dell's business class laptop which shows in every facet of it's design and build quality (Think Thinkpad vs. Ideapad). I bought from a 3rd party and got mine used in "very good" condition for $300. I was happy with the condition they sent it to me in but be careful when buying from 3rd party resellers. I specifically picked this model because the Amazon ad shows that it comes with a HD+ screen (1600x900). The one they sent me had the standard HD screen (1366x768). Otherwise, the battery life is amazing (6+ hours per charge) and it's got a nice grippy matte finish on the wrist rest and surrounding areas that doesn't show finger prints and the HD+ screen has great color reproduction. Also Ubuntu 14.04 works out of box like a champ. I contacted the reseller I purchased from and explained the screen situation and they sent me a new machine right away and bent over backward to make sure I didn't lag on my end with work and whatnot, by sending me a machine with a return label in the box to ship the one i had back. I feel like most places would have made me send the machine I physically had back first. I bought from Tekmobility out of NC. I would recommend you do business with them if you are in the market for refurbs or preowned to save a little coin as I was.

A good compromise for a specific customer.
These things are built like a TANK. I really mean that. This is basically military/ gov surplus. All American or allied parts (none of that cheap chinese crap) Ruggedized, so us military folk don't smash it with our battle scarred trigger fingers. Even pretty water resistant, for all those who actually work on their laptops, as opposed to those who tweet, FB, then go outside and live. It is a trade off. It's not a good buy in terms of performance. HDD is slow (also not the original for sure) The CPU is old and lack luster. It really isn't good on battery life compared to modern equivalents at all. (2 - 4 hours vs new 6 - 12 hrs) It's heavy, really heavy... I have an asus zen book, 8hrs of battery life, 50% faster, dedicated GPU, thinner than the screen portion of this laptop and weighs 30%. Yes I paid more, but I didn't pay that much more. Would I still recommend it? Yes, absolutely, but for specific use case scenarios. A clean office environment, a computer for a camper, a computer for the elderly, a prison guard, or children who don't play games on it. (it can't handle post 2009 games well anyway)

DON'T BUY!!
Needed new battery instantly!! The hard drive fell out cause no screws to hold it. Altogether 7 screws missing from cover, Keyboard not lighted. Battery $28.95,,$6.95 for a light, ,,$7.95 for screws,,,roughly $80.00 to update Ram, ,I wanted to upgrade ram to eight. Computer had two 2 gb ram cards instead of one four like most computers. So I had to order an extra 4GB. Total waste of money! I needed a travel laptop bad and had to bite the bullet to fix this piece of crap.

Bought 2 Dells, Link Tronics is very good and responsive
I ordered two of the Dell 6420's with a built in webcam and backlit keyboard. The first was last October and the second last week. I changed out the N network cards with Intel AC 7260's. I also changed out the hard drive with 1 TB and 500 GB hard drives. These units are just fine for even demanding applications. For example, before we went from ATT UVerse to Spectrum, I used a converter to download all the recoreded movies to the hard drive. I had easily enough CPU speed to accomplish that. The only problem I had was with the Dell webcam. After, looking high and low I called them. I simply could not find the drivers nor the appication. OBS Show worked but that is not a native Dell application. They sent me a link that I could not get to work. I called them again. Low and behold a CD with the webcam software arrrived in the mail! Holy Moly! This is great customer service. The e6420 arrived last Wednesday. The Intel AC 7260 is installed as well as a 500 GB SSD drive. So far so good. It works and is fast. On the original drives I pulled the Win 7 licences and installed them on the new drives. The only problem that I had on the second machine was a missing "dummy" insert that acts as dust cover on the SD Card slot. I called them today. I know that it will arrive soon. I could not be more pleased with Link Tronics, these guys are great and their customer service is really good. Karl Oviedo FL

I'm able to write this review
My current computer I'm using - was a good buy. Had a defective DVD drive (door wouldn't open); received a replacement in 3 days. Did not have any re-install disks (win 7 O/S or Outlook 2007 disks) found them at pcsalesonline.com; legit MS copies with OEM product keys.

Very Satisfied!!
Very satisfied with these notebooks, we bought two and both are in excellent conditions and very functional. Very little scratches and neat performance. Arrival faster than expected and excellent wrapped. No complaint with this vendor so far. I would buy 5 of these laptops from this vendor if needed.

Be Careful Who you Buy Used From
This comment is more about the seller Link-Tronics Memory of Santa Ana than the laptop itself. Be selective in who you order a used one from and realize it’s hit or miss in what you may receive. If I did it again I would make sure I got a Dell refurbished laptop instead of a used one. I left a negative comment for LinkTronics memory and they replied to the comment offering me to return the laptop for a replacement (no refund offered). Since I only paid $218 plus shipping, and the laptop functioned OK, I decided to keep it anyway and fix it up myself. I was also leery about what I might receive as a replacement, and this laptop had a 1600x900 resolution and discrete graphics – I was expecting lower resolution and integrated graphics. After seeing many 5 out of 5 star reviews for them on Amazon, I ordered a Dell E6420 laptop off Amazon.com from Link-Tronics Memory, 12630 Westminster Ave., Santa Ana. The laptop was advertised by Link-Tronics as “very good” condition. The laptop had a large dent on the top of the case this dent was possibly from shipping I don’t know, several small dents around the edges of the top case that were not from shipping, a large (white with black text) metal tag super glued to the top of the case tracking it against theft and someone’s initials were written on the bottom of the laptop in permanent marker. The laptop had no hard drive screws in it. The hard drive fell out of the side of the laptop when I picked it up. The DC jack was loose. I bought a new case top and bottom cover and another DC jack from ebay. When I disassembled the laptop to replace the DC jack, 5 out of the10 palm-rest screws were missing. Once I had the laptop apart and tried to remove the motherboard, the top left motherboard screw was missing and it appears that the motherboard is super glued onto the daughterboard/case at that point and can not be removed from the laptop, unbelievably. When reassembling it I was also unable to put a screw into that screw hole (it’s filled with glue apparently?). It turned out that the DC jack was actually loose because the DC jack bracket holding it in was bent and loose but I put in the new DC jack anyway and straightened the bracket to make it tight. I bought a laptop screw kit to replace the missing screws, replaced the DC jack, replaced the top case cover with a new one and the bottom case cover with a slightly used one from ebay. I replaced the 320GB 5400 RPM hard drive in it with a 750GB 7200 RPM drive, and installed 8 GB of new RAM to replace the 4 GB it came with. After all the extra time, work and money spent the laptop overheated and shut down after one hour of use. Then I discovered that Dell used a thermal pad between the GPU and heatsink on their E6420 laptops, and the thermal pad was missing from this laptop. So then I bought a used Dell double-heat sink (made for the E6520 but also fits the E5420) to replace the single heatsink it came with and I used copper shims to replace the GPU thermal pad and re-thermal pasted everything again. FINALLY…after several weeks of waiting for parts, several hours of working on it, and spending another $100+ on parts I have a nice looking, great working laptop. The battery however appears to be worn out and I only get one hour and 40 minutes from the battery with light use. I just hope I never have to remove the motherboard as it seems to be super glued into the laptop.

Handles everything I've thrown at it including games like sims 4
I've had this about half a year and it's slightly exceeded my expectations. Only thing was missing was Bluetooth and a dongle fixed that. Handles everything I've thrown at it including games like sims 4, civ 6 and tropico 5.

Altri programmi come l'antivirus, erano solo in lingua tedesca e ho dovuto disinstallarli immediatamente. Per il resto PC buono, ma non certo per merito del venditore.

This computer didn't even last a year.
I will never get another one. It crashed on my grandson at school. Nothing could be done. From the beginning it would not charge properly. I do not recommend this to anyone. a waste of money.
