Excellent device to use as a home router with vpn capabilities. I actually don't use the vpn, I use it for routing and monitoring my connection. It has graphs showing use by protocol/application (e.g, it can identify apps such as Instagram, ring, Google etc and you can see download totals). Also has QoS and even with hardware acceleration disabled hardly bothers the cpu. Note to use data statistics and the dpi engine hardware acceleration has to be disabled. This hasn't caused me any issues though. Should you be a power user you also have access to the full openwrt LuCI interface for more detailed control. Highly recommended.

This device is a "you have to have it", absolutely amazing transfer capabilities, performance and settings for such a small device. Only after purchasing it did realize how useful and necessary it is in my network. Without a cooling fan, it should be that way so as not to suck in dust, etc. Very low power consumption, so as a security gate it will work great when traveling. I really recommend it.

Best device I got. Just changed my whole networking at home with different VPN setups and my personal wireguard and tailscale. Seems to handle speeds higher than other devices. It's tiny so can even take it and use it for tether. Atm have it setup infront my mesh so all the house traffic goes through the different VPN routines I've got. Can policy route by IP / Mac address... Many many options.

USB Powered - GL.iNet Brume 3 Secure VPN Internet Router/Gateway - Best in the Market! NOTE: It is clearly labelled, but this is a "Wired" secure VPN device. There is no sim card slot to insert a Mobile Data sim (although GL.iNET to make and sell these) this one is not. You can use your mobile phone "tethered" from this device to get that internet connection secure via a USB-C connector. Not a problem for myself but want to point that out. GL.iNET my sincere thanks for once again making designing and making a astounding well made VPN router/gateway device in such a tiny and portable unit! If I could give 6 stars, I would. Do some research on secure VPN devices and GL.iNET will be in the top tier. What you get with this impressive unit! 1100 Mbps VPN Server Performance. 3 x 2.5Gbps ports (latest available). "Stealth" VPN Obfuscation for secure communications! Intelligent QoS (Quality of Service) for device priorities and bandwidth. DPI Security. USB 3.0 Data Port for external devices. Super Small! USB-C Powered. More than just a Secure travel router, can be placed and connected for a secure home or work solution. Dual ISP Lan/Wan connectivity for redundant connectivity. USB-C wired tethering (how I mostly have used this and needed this VPN device)! Does not get hot! Very intuitive and easy front end management GUI, Rock solid and secure connectivity! For my work from home, travel to work sites and home requirements I need a truly secure connection and with the BRUME 3 from GL.iNET I can achieve this. Super easy to understand and get around the GUI and I no longer have to keep running a 3rd party VPN software for my connections! Very, very happy customer and owner and a super easy review and recommendation.

Despite claiming to be “powered by OpenWRT” this device runs a vendor-provided fork, and is not supported by the upstream/mainline. There is some work-in-progress toward support, but if OpenWRT is critical, this device doesn’t yet live up to the marketing claims.

El router es una maravilla, pequeño pero potente gracias a Openwrt, prácticamente es plug&play conectar configurar el PPoE y listo. Dado su tamaño no sé calienta demasiado, dado mis usos y donde iba a estar instalado no necesito conectividad WiFi y el Brume 3 cumplía con este requisito además de contar con puertos 2,5GHz. Crear o conectar con los servicios de VPN es tan fácil como darle a un botón y dejarte guiar por la configuración de manera sencilla, así como otros servicios como AdguardHome que también me ha sorprendido lo rápido que se configura y empieza a filtrar la red. Si estás buscando un router con el que tener el control real, Glinet hace unos router muy buenos y este Brume 3 es una pasada.

I picked up the Brume 3 to replace my Netgear DDWRT R9000. Setup was straightforward right out of the box. Since I don’t need or use I ran it purely wired with some TP Link Deco AP’s — and I honestly can’t tell any real-world difference in performance compared to the bigger/more expensive “big brother” models like Flint 2 or even Flint 3. The DPI feature is a nice touch unfortunately you can do anything with it, like policy-based routing etc. Nevertheless nice to look at. The Router delivers excellent speeds (up to that advertised 1100 Mbps on VPN), handles multi-WAN, OpenWrt customization, and DPI/security features flawlessly. Super compact, fanless, and reliable — exactly what I needed for a secure, high-performance wired setup without the wireless overhead. If you’re looking for a powerful VPN/security gateway that just works (especially if you don’t need built-in Wi-Fi), this is an outstanding choice. Highly recommend!

very good router, wireguard client reaching bit more than 900Mb/s, lan on both lines gives full 2.5Gbps. AdBlock works fine.

GL.iNet MT5000 (Brume 3) is a very high-quality device that offers impressive speeds. I was able to install WireGuard directly from my provider to the VPN. This is the first time I have used such a wonderful product. I am very happy—thank you!
