Review: this one actually works! - Using this converter for both 45W and 85W MagSafe 2 power supplies on my 2018 15 in MacBook Pro. It works as expected, charges to 100%, does not get hot and does not shut off. Review: Almost a great device - Not suited for Apple Laptops requiring 85W power supply. - Have been using this for a awhile now, and have learned some things about it. First - it does work but charges slowly because it does not pass through the full 85W to charge the 15โ MacBook Pro like the factory adapter. This adapter does get very warm in operation, although that does not seem to be dangerous. Spend the additional money and but a real Apple Power supply if you value your laptop. Review update: I had MacBook Pro 15โ 2019 plugged into this adapter all day and have discovered that this 15โ MacBook Pro really does not like this adapter. The adapter gets so warm that the thermal overload cycles it on and off and the effect on the MacBook is that the it stops charging and dims the screen, then turns back on and the screen brightens. This cycle goes on all day. DO NOT USE THIS ADAPTER ON THE MacBooks requiring an 85W power supply. Might be fine for a MacBook Air or any apple laptop that only requires 60W or less, but not good for the 85W laptops..

A (crappy) inexpensive charging adapter for stingy buyers
{UPDATE} (2/20/19): The adapter suddenly stopped working, and only after a month after I bought it! I have tried with my magsafe 1 + 2 chargers. (I have verified that the chargers themselves are working), flipping the orientation of the magsafe plug, flipping the orientation of the USB-C plug, trying that on all of the four ports. Nothing. I even cleaned the contacts with isopropyl alcohol, but nothing again. I will definitely be asking for a replacement. Despite the sketchy English on the package, it works beautifully it does fit MagSafe 1 and 2, which I find excellently versatile. The indicator light on the charger does not light up, but it charges anyway, and they do warn you about that on the box. The dongle does not get hot, nor does the charging brick, inexplicably. I would definitely recommend this product.

Works great
Perfect device for the purpose. Turns all my old charges into useful chargers again.

Works well, but concerned about durability as it gets very hot.
As noted in the headline, works as advertised and seems to be of good quality. It does get very hot to the touch (like mild burn if you hold it) when charging. Also, once the battery hits 100% it shuts off and so the battery begins to discharge. At that point you must unplug it to re-set and return to charging mode.

Drains Battery + Power Interruptions
Not a great device. I have it set-up as a converter between my Thunderbolt display's power cord and my new 2018 MBP. problem #1: If I leave it plugged in over night, about 25% of the time the battery on my laptop is completely drained when I pick it up in the morning; it should charge, but it somehow does the opposite. Problem #2: While using it between the display's power cord and my computer, about once per hour/once every two hours, the display will suddenly shut off. It begins working again after I unplug the power cord from the converter and re-plug it in. If I bypass the display's powercord + converter and use the Apple-provided MBP Thunderbolt 3 power cord, the problem does not occur at all, ever.

Power Everything with one Surplus MagSafe1 85W adapter
Already had a Magsafe1->2 adapter so that just one spare adapter was needed in the office workbench for testing, add this and you can power all three iterations of macbook (and in the case of USB-C, everything newer, and with a USB-C adapter or hub, everything USB-A)

Don't think this works with new MacBook Pro and Thunderbolt Display
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong or if there's something I need to do. Otherwise, the power seems to randomly disconnect and then reconnect (even though I'm not touching the adapter at all). I have this plugged into a brand new MBP from my Thunderbolt Display. It's extra annoying as, because I leave my MacBook closed as it's "docked" with the Thunderbolt Display, this power cycle basically puts the computer to sleep briefly and requires a 5 second pause to switch the monitor back on. It also causes me to have to reenter my password to unlock the MacBook. If I'm doing something wrong....or if this particular adapter is simply a dud and needs to be replaced, please let me know and I'll be happy to change my review. Otherwise, this is pretty unusable.
