T-25 Torx head on the 2-inch screws. The included bit is too short. - This is a review of the #9 x 2 inch deck screws. These screws use a size Torx size T-25 bit. I have switched to using only screws with Torx heads now, rather than the Phillips heads I've used in the past. Torx bits do not slip out like Phillips heads do. These screws have finer threads. I prefer screws with coarser and deeper threads than these, as those go in faster and start easier. Having said that, these screws have sharp points and because they are smaller diameter, I had no trouble getting these to start into dimensional lumber. In hardwood I will drill holes first. This 2-inch size and smaller diameter make these particularly well suited for projects where I am attaching 3/4" thick boards, either to 2-by lumber or to the end or side of another 3/4" board. In that case I will drill a hole first to prevent splitting. I will not use these for deck boards that are 1-1/2" thick. They are too short for that, so unless your decking is no more than 1-inch thick, it's better to use 2-1/2 or 3-inch deck screws. However these might work if you are attaching screws into the side of the board at an angle, so the screws are hidden, but I'd like at least 2-1/2" screws for that. These have a nice coating on them that should prevent rust or staining when exposed to moisture. They are priced fairly. These come with a very short T-25 bit that will not fit directly into an impact screwdriver. I wish they would have included a longer bit that will fit in an impact screwdriver without using an adapter. Of course I have my own longer T-25 bits and so should you. Don't depend on the one included. If you do, it will likely fall out of your adapter and be lost, halting your project until you obtain another bit. I've had that happen many times with these tiny bits, so I no longer use them. Get a real T-25 impact driver bit. Disappointed they didn't include a longer bit. Review: Excellent Quality Deck Screws For Quality Framing Projects - I am a contractor in So Cal and my business specializes in outdoor structures like decks, arbors, patio covers and custom gates. We work on the coast on mostly residential projects for people that appreciate heirloom quality wood and masonry work. I got these BNUOK #10 x 4 in Multi-Purpose Wood Deck Screws through the desertcart Vine Program for free in exchange for testing and reviewing the product. These are top quality framing screws which I use to frame decks and patio covers. These four-inch screws are the exact type required for framing with 2" dimensional lumber for joists, posts, beams and ledgers using both treated and untreated lumber. The Torx head (star drive) is the most efficient way to drive a screw safely with a cordless impact driver. These are the state of the art fasteners for doing the job right the first time and achieving quality results. I am impressed with the quality of the coating on these screws. It looks like an epoxy paint over galvanized steel, but I am not sure. I would expect that these will hold up well in the marine environment close to the coast where I work. At $29 for a box of 250 screws, these are a fantastic deal through desertcart.

Good quality but missing the T25 bit that was supposed to be included
The 2.5-inch wood screws appear to be strong and well-made. They use a Torx bit instead of a standard Phillips head, which is more likely to hold up over time outdoors and much less likely to strip. There are only two issues that kept me from giving these five stars. The first is the packaging: they shipped in the storage box, which is fine, but there is no labeling on the outside. I shouldn't have to write on the container myself just to know what is inside. The second issue is the T25 bit; the description stated it was included, but it was missing. I even dumped out all the screws to verify that the bit wasn't buried at the bottom of the box. It isn't a huge deal for me since I already own one, but if it is advertised to come with the screws, it should be in the box as expected.

Strong and well made
I test new screws to make sure I will have no surprises in the middle of a project. Usually, I drive them into an old, dry, tight-grained 4 x 6 timber with my impact driver. I drive them all the way in, then take them out, then drive them in again in a different spot. If they survive this without breaking, then I’m confident they will work fine when attaching cedar fence boards to a softwood 2x4 stringer, or some similar application. These 1-5/8” screws survived the test with no issues. The coating on them is uniform and I won’t know how long it will last, but a good indication is that the coating did not come off when I double drove them into hard wood, as have other screws I’ve bought. The T15 bit they included is ok, but it is usable really only when put in a holder before slipping it into my impact driver. I prefer longer bits, either 2” or 3”, which I use without needing a holder.

High quality coated steel torx screws for decks, fences, and other uses
I'm a big fan of torx fasteners since they won't round out on you like phillips plus they holds tighter to the drill bit for one handed fastening. These screws are strong enough to drive all the way flush into a 2x4 without stripping or snapping the head off at the end when it bottoms out. The anti-corrosion coating is ideal for outdoor use and places where you need the fastener to last a long time without losing strength to rust or corrosion. The underside of the screw head has the striations on it to help you drive the screw flush without mushrooming the material you are screwing it down into. These are quality screws. I got the 5lb box and I'm not sure if it came with a torx bit like in the picture or not. I'm not about to dump the box looking for it - I have plenty from all the other boxes I've screws I ordered that came with bits. Made in China if that matters to you.
