The PU leather clipboard has a smooth writing surface. The magnetic paper holder is strong and holds multiple papers at once without leaving any indentation from a metal clip. The pen holder is just a groove that hardly keeps a pen from falling off. This is a quality writing board with a magnetic paper holder. It is a good value over others I have looked at. It has nice stitching and strong magnets. It does not have a pocket for files though as described in the product description. I recommend the PU leather board as an upgrade from the traditional hard board and metal clip.
