HIC Kitchen Silicone Pineapples Ice Cube Tray, Non-Stick, Makes 12 Pineapples

I have used this ice cube mold continuously since I purchased it in 2014, five years ago. It makes excellent water-bottle ice, really easy to extract from the mold. If you under-fill the mold a little, the cubes are about 1/2” in diameter, and fit easily into narrow-opening bottles. If you fill the mold to the top, the cubes are a nice, bigger size. I have never had any issues with taste, or residue in the mold. The silicone ice cube mold is flexible, which could be problematic when filling with water. I obviate the issue by placing the empty mold on top of a regular, plastic ice cube tray (filled or not), and filling it. Then I place the stack of tray and mold in the freezer. No mess, no drama. As soon as the water in the silicone mold has set a little, the plastic tray, if unfilled, can come out of the freezer. I came on the site today because I decided to get another of these molds, to supplement my first one, which is still going strong. I was surprised the ratings weren’t all stellar, so I am adding mine.

This mold produces perfect little penguins. The ice cubes are darling, but I also use them to make penguin mints and little cakes, which I decorate with royal frosting. The little cakes make charming decorations for slices of sheet cake, and the mints are nifty cookie toppers, as well as a nice addition to a candy tray. The buyer should note the small size of the tray. (It is listed in the product description). These are little guys. The tray is smaller than a regular Ice cube tray. If you are not accustomed to using silicon trays, they are very flexible, so you will want to put a tray under them wen moving the filled trays to the freezer or oven. Have fun with them.

I used this to make crayons for my daughter birthday and it went well! The tray is super flexible but also sturdy. It was easy to use and the crayons came out great!

I just started my 6 month old baby on solids and it was good to be able to freeze her food in small portions that she can finish in one sitting. I wanted to make sure she would have a variety of food to eat during each sitting so small portions allowed me to do that. But as a fair warning... My baby started eating a lot of solids fairly quickly where she would eat 3 cubes (or 6 tsp or 2 tbsp or 1 oz) each sitting. So I ended up buying the Tevolo perfect cube silicone ice trays that freezes 1 oz of baby food per cube. But every baby is different... So don't eat a lot of a while and some take to eating fast. But I am still glad I got these HIC ice trays because I'm sure I will use them again on my next baby. But if you are looking to use these as actual ice cube trays, they are pretty pointless because they are just too small.

Can be used for anything

It works alright. The tray could possibly be better if it was easier to pop out; that would be fixed by making the shape bigger yet flatter. The cubes are quite small, about 1"x1". I bought it to make frozen baby food portions - I use 3 cubes per 2 oz serving. Besides that and for cute little ice cubes or brownie bites, I don't have much use for them.

excellent for many things. I love using it to melt a few chocolate chips in each section using the microwave and then putting slices of bananas, strawberries, or pretzel rods ontop and then putting it into the freezer to be able to have a quick, easy, relatively healthy treat with easy preparation (no bowls involved; it can go right from microwave to freezer with no need to scrap the chocolate off the side of the bowl when melting chocolates). It is also great for making ice sticks that fit into water bottles instead of trying to hold them up to the ice dispenser and having some cubes fly all over in the process). You can also put piece of berries, fruit juice, or coffee in these molds to then put into beverages or freeze herbs in olive oil in these molds. These are just a few of the many amazing uses this product has. It is also much easier to get things out of this mold then an ice cube tray and if you only want half a stick worth of something, it is easy to break the thin sticks in half.

I bought this for making chocolates and it works great. The chocolates pop out easily once set and I can use it several times during the same batch since the chocolate doesn't stick. I also love that I can tell if I've properly coated it with chocolate before filling - so many molds are brown which makes it harder to tell.

Great for water bottles. I only wish there was a lid type feature so the tray did not spill so easily in the freezer. Works well if you out the mould on a cookie sheet or other flat baking tray until frozen.

Too flexible, leave 5mm from the top edge or ice will not go through. Other than that - good :)
