Q: How often do we need to change the filter?

That I can't tell you. I'm sure if you go to the maker's site you should find something there. I had a really nasty infestation of fruit flies with the unit and had to get rid of it.

Q: how long are these effective for?

According to the Titan Trash Compactor Booklet, "For best performance, we recommend replacing your odour filter every 3 months."

Q: Can you order a replacement odor filter holder?

I’ve never used the odor removal that I ordered. I did not know where to place it despite the description suggestion. I’ve just been lazy using the odor removal.
