Can it be used for switching on a 1 Hp water pump(ac motor) after sensing water flow in a pipe? What are the other components I would need?

Hi IrshaadMy requirement is also in the similar to your question. Not sure if my reply would help you.You will need to put a mechanism in place to turn ON/OFF the Water Pump. I have see this sensor used with Arduino boards to check the flow rate.(You might find some examples or projects for reference on the net.)With this sensor even if Air is passed the sensor will respond that water is flowing. This is one major drawback in this.You would need a relay to turn your Motor on and off and rest is about detecting the water flow with a device which will inturn turn the motor ON/OFF.Hope this helps. Keep me posted on your findings. If i come across i will let you know as well.

Can use it without using arduino board, simply visulised by blinking of led. This would help to prevent dry run of water pump !

no sir. This is flow sensor which measures the flow. It do not work for ON-OFF function.

It is basically a sensor. It just generate pulses with varying frequencies based on the flow of water.
