I was one of those people that would use a gas powered line trimmer and I absolutely hated it which meant I would trim like 2 times per year to reduce the amount of swearing and kicking that I did. When I was shopping for a new trimmer, I knew that I would never want to hand load the line and never have to try and clean the carburator ever again.... Well this EGO trimmer is absolutely fantastic in solving those 2 issues and so much more. The auto load on this is amazing, it starts up the minute I pull the trigger and the variable speed on the unit has my line lasting so much longer. Its relatively light weight and well balanced so its easy to move and adjust. The adjustment hand holder is good for being able to go from trimming to edging while keeping the tool comfortable to use. The battery life is every bit as much as 45 minutes, so if I want to go full out I don't even mind edging the driveway and sidewalks every other week or so. Just a much more enjoyable experience and I'm really glad I made the switch. I really like the product line that EGO puts out (good construction quality) and I'm considering going to one of their leaf blowers next to complement this guy.

I researched similar products before buying and this brand and model was always coming top or near top in reviews. I had a big hillside of weeds to clear, some 6ft tall. I knew it would be expensive to pay someone to clear so took a chance, not knowing what to expect. All I can say is…wow. This thing made short work of it all. It took me a couple of days to learn how best to use the product, how to maximize the wire, how to tackle stubborn weeds, but once I did, it was a joy to use. The battery lasts a long time and is quick to charge. Buy extra lengths of string if tackling a big job and learn how to ensure it lasts a long time. My wife was skeptical but no longer. Make sure you wear safety glasses and protect your feet and arms as things get thrown around and at you. I saved around $2k clearing the hillside myself taking about an hour a day over a week. Fantastic, powerful and well built product with the added benefit of a long warranty. Only gripe is that I wished I purchased sooner

I have other EGO tools, so that was the initial drive to get a new string trimmer, but after getting this in-hand and using it.... WOW!!! It is wonderfully light and easy to move around with, without any type of supporting harness. It was preloaded with string which was nice, but that means I have not yet used the PowerLoad feature yet. I am also very impressed with how well it sliced through my grass. One thing I was key to try out was the bump-head to feed out more line... and it worked FLAWLESSLY. I've used string trimmers for 20+ years and I've never had one feed line so smoothly. I had quite a bit of trimming to do, but the 4.0ah battery easily let me work for 30 minutes with plenty of power left still in the battery. I have used gas trimmers up to this point, but I am very happy with the move to this battery powered trimmer.

ABSOLUTELY love it. It's just as powerful as a gas trimmer. LOVE, LOVE LOVE the power load feature. Light weight. Easy to use. I haven't had a chance to use it fully because the Ego Battery that came with the trimmer was defective. So I had to quickly contact customer service to report the problem and request a WORKING Battery that takes 10-15 days to receive. Luckily, I had already purchased a 2nd 56V 5.0 Battery compatible with the EGO Trimmer that actually WORKED. Go figure. So this sort of killed my desire to use it to test its full capacity and run time. Despite the dead Battery, I still believe it's an awesome trimmer. I suggest you buy a 2nd backup Battery compatible for the Ego Trimmer . 4 Stars only because the Ego Battery was defective.

I've bought Stihl products for about 40 years, so when I was first interested in a battery powered trimmer I looked at a couple of their models at my local Ace. Right off the bat, the trigger release mechanism was hard to work on every display unit they had, and the employee couldn't get them to work any better. Their quality has really tanked over the last decade! Anyways, I did some research on other brands and decided to give this E-GO unit a try. So far I'm pretty impressed. It was easy to set up, and easy to use. The fit and finish is good and the trigger release works really well! I have a half acre with about two dozen trees, 75' of shrubs, and another 100' or so of landscape beds that I trim around which takes about 20 minutes. I used the low speed setting for thin areas and switched to high for the thicker stuff. I ended up with half battery life remaining when I was done, which would work out to about 40 minutes run time. The unit is a bit heavy (but expected with such a large battery) and the bump head is super sensitive...even letting out line if you get a little sloppy with controlling the unit and it slightly hits the ground. I really like the fact that nothing is running and there is no noise as I move between areas. All in all I would recommend this trimmer.

This weed whacker is WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! I was skeptical and hesitant in spending so much money on a product that trimmed my weeds. This trimmer is phenomenal. It trims better than any trimmer I've ever used. It cut my trimming time in half. It is powerful. The battery life is crazy long and it doesn't lose power while it is stored. I charged it 1X and I was able to trim & edge my front and back yard three times over a 6 week period! I live in a townhouse. It may be different for larger yards. It is a heavy duty tool that is sturdy too. THE BEST FEATURE - the automatic line feeder. You will never again have to deal with the hassle of refilling your line. You simply feed the line into a hole and push a button and the trimmer does the rest. Viola - refilled line just like that. A real time saver - no more frustration with line getting jammed because you didn't wrap it around the spool correctly. The only CON about this trimmer is that it is on the heavier side and my arms get fatigued after 10 -15 minutes .(I am a fairly physically fit 50+ woman and I have no problem using it) But, If you have physical limitations with lifting and holding heavier objects you may find this trimmer problematic.

I have had a lawn service for most of my adult homeownership. At 75 I decided to take the lawn care over myself. Having battery operated tools and control over when and what was being done were my primary decision for this move. I started with the lawnmower (battery operated and self propelled). It was liberating! Great exercise, no gasoline or oil to deal with. I added this string trimmer/ edger a couple of weeks ago. I had always hated trimming and edging. It is no longer a concern. It is fairly lightweight. The battery way outlasted my use. The handle is easy to adjust from trimming to edging. My edging/trimming gets better each time I’ve used it. The huge benefit is the string feeder. OMG! Piece of cake. I have already recaptured my lawn care costs by doing it myself with these two tools. The instructions are easy to follow plus there are plenty of videos from happy purchasers on YouTube. If I needed another tool, I would definitely see what EGO had available. The battery is compatible with most of them. Highly recommend.

I started with a mower that came with a 5AH battery. I love it and it easily mows my ~7000 sq ft yard. I added an edger that came as a bare tool and I still get the whole job done on one charge. The 5AH battery is a little heavy in the edger but it works great. OK, I should really ditch my blower. Again a bare tool and the battery still handles it all but still a little heavy. So this string trimmer was the 4th in the set and I bought one with a 2.5 AH battery. A little lighter and smaller in the hand held tools. The four stars for light weight is just because the 2.5 AH battery was not as much lighter as I had hoped. The design of these tools is really thought out. Those annoying safety features (deadman switches, guards, etc.) on similar products work seamlessly on these. There are adjustments for anything you need. A small length adjustment on this trimmer seemed silly until I used it and found it really handy. They could have named these "ErgoPower" they are so ergonomically designed. My love affair with EGO Power was on temporary hold when my 2.5 AH battery stopped taking a full charge. But their warranty service was great; with on minor detail. They ship these with each component having its own book, serial number, etc. but for warranty, they need ALL the serial numbers that came together. Not a problem, if I had known. I couldn't remember which tool the battery came with.
