All the major car stereos out there have more or less the same features. So I will give my take only on the sound and some unique features/design that I noticed on this unit... Sound - This JVC unit has a punchy sound. You will notice a strong midrange and although the highs are clear and well defined, it is not that extended. I had paired these with Infinity component speakers. Overall tone is easy on the ears and so you can listen to it for extended period of time without getting ear fatigue. Design - The volume knob doubles as a play/pause button. When you pause the music, you can turn the knob to the left which brings the volume down to zero level. This makes it very convenient when you want to stop the music or reduce the volume suddenly, for eg. when you want to stop and ask for directions, or pay a toll or parking ticket. In most stereos, the play/pause button is one of the smaller buttons which makes it difficult to locate when you need it urgently. All the other buttons (which you would use most often) are also just the right size and location so that you can access it without having to take your eyes off the road. The menus are simple and easy to navigate. The UI is a bit sluggish though and takes a bit of time when you change sources.
