Bethany Housewares Pastry Board & Cloth Set

I needed a replacement for my very old Dough Disc which was a plastic disc covered with an elastic edged cloth cover and is no longer made. This board is very sturdy and does not slide around while rolling dough. The cover is very sturdy and does not bunch up. Since it has a drawstring, the problem of the elastic stretching out is eliminated. Wonderful for making sand tarts and decorated royal icing sugar cookies. I use a sugar/flour mixture on the cover and on my rolling pin sleeve. This shakes off the cover easily. I am very happy with the quality of this item.

The pastry board works excellently for making lefse; we made over 100 of them! The measurements on the cloth also help make sizing pastries easy.

For a decade the struggle has been real in my bi-annual attempts to re-create my grandmas lefse recipe. After some semi-successful attempts I've got the recipe down but had always used a silicone pastry mat for rolling out the dough...HUGE MISTAKE!!! This pastry board is the key to the perfect lefse universe, I am able to shake a bit of flour on top, roll out my dough with a covered rolling pin and achieve an incredibly thin perfect lefse round that is not too thick or too covered in flour and easily lifts off the board with a stick. As baking tradition usually goes, this is one of those baking hacks that nobody shares and is key to production. In closing, I would recommend that if you are making more than 15 lefse at once, purchase an extra board cover to ensure you keep a dry surface. You're welcome ;)

Buy this if you roll out dough for anything it’s amazing! Our cut out cookies were so thin and crispy for Christmas and that’s the big challenge in our family circle and we won using this. You flour it well and we use a cloth sleeve on our roller too and nothing sticks at all. Love this!

This makes rolling out pastry so easy..as it doesn't stick. A little hard to clean. I usually just put in the washer. I don't care for the string closure. I bought a replacement cover from another dealer which looks exactly the same, but is closed with elastic and not a thin piece of string. The elastic is much more user friendly and doesn't' knot or slip.

This cloth cover works so well....I didn't have to keep adding near as much flour during rolling lefse as compared to rolling on silicon sheet. The grading on the cloth assists on rolling out a consistent size every time. I've had one for many, many years, and they hold up wonderfully. Ordered another for a second roller. Just perfect!

Norwegian lefse makers - this is a must have!

I'm embarrassed to say I spent close to $50 for this! Cheap compressed "wood" The rubber stick-on pads (feet) should be higher as the cloth bunched up underneath keeps them from being in contact with the counter, so it slips around. We'll see how long the print lasts on the fabric! I could have made this with materials from Home Depot for 1/3 of the cost!
