Is the edge of the cap that goes around your hairline satin or cotton?

It's not cotton. It's spandex or some other stretchy synthetic material. So comfortable that I use the edge as a sleep mask over my eyes when hubby needs to turn the light on.

Is it possible for me to choose the solid orange color shown in the picture? Some reviews say the pattern given is random

It just came in the color as shown. Not random.

Would you recommend the bonnet or the long pocket one? I have fine, damaged Caucasian hair and this would be cheaper than satin pillowcases.

I would say it depends on how you sleep. In my opinion the long pocket wrap would stay on better. But if you don't sleep wild or like wearing things tight on your head the bonnet would be a better choice.

It's spandex material. Has a good stretch to it but still stays on overnight.
