Good product
Bought 2 for my heating systems. Both work well, are easy to operate. Instructions were clear.

I love this thermostat
Sounds funny to love a thermostat, but it is what it is. Let me count the ways:1. The instruction manual is well-written. So many manuals written by so many other companies are sheer torture to read through.2. The thermostat is both simple to operate and full featured. That's easier said than done, thus the reason it's rarely done.ย 3. The "full features" are found in the "Installer Menu" of setup (hold "Menu" button for 8+ seconds to get to it) in which you can adjust a wide variety of settings, including the "cycle rate" which affects how cool or hot outside of your desired temp it is allowed to deviate before turning on again (a common complaint from a lot of people, but it's a trade-off--more frequent cycling is hard on your A/C and uses more electricity). There are 20 different options in the Installer Menu.4. For programming the On-Off times and days, I didn't even have to read the manual, thanks to how intuitive it is. The very first time I tried it, I figured it out. That's a well designed thermostat.5. $55 for such a thermostat is a bargain.6. It works great without a "C" wire (common). The C wire allows it to be powered from the transformer rather than batteries, which also allows the display to stay illuminated all the time (otherwise you press a button on top to illuminate it, and it stays lit as long as you're making adjustments). I'm adding a C wire, but can see it would be fine long term without it.7. The overall style is just plain good. It's tough to describe, but it seems most all manufacturers have convinced themselves they need some kind of racy, eye-spinning aesthetic to sell their wares (and then downplay or ignore the actual logic of using it). This thermostat has none of that. It's attractive, calm, and doesn't drive you crazy.8. Wi-Fi connection would add complication, cost, and glitches, all of which I will gladly live without.I just became a big fan of White-Rogers by Copeland (the branding on the thermostat, but it otherwise appears to be the exact same thermostat as the Emerson described and pictured in the product listing, including the exact same product number).

Installation instructions could have been clearer.
Display is great; backplate large enough to cover almost any previous cutout. Simple to program. But you'll want to set the "installer settings", which may intimidate novices.Would have preferred spring-loaded push blocks rather than screw terminals. It'll say "Rogers-White" on the front rather than "Emerson", which irritated my daughter.

Really nice thermostat
Replaced an older thermostat in my home; this one has all the features I was looking for (operates off wire power with battery backup, auto heat/cool, temp programming, etc) that I was looking for. It's a small thing, but I also like that it has a backlight that you can either push to turn on or set to be always-on if you're wire powered. You will need to dive into the "installer menu" to get it going, but a few Google/AI searches will square you away there as the manual isn't quite enough for the average guy. Be sure you test it when you're done to make sure you don't have a heat pump that cools when the heat comes on and vice-versa by default (I did). Yes, you'll need to go into the installer menu to fix that but it's just one setting.

White-Rodgers, a trusted name in temperature management for residential applications
Carries the freight on cold days, the adjustable temp swing is a major plus. Also you can configure the unit to have 4 events/day or 2/day. Made in Mexico for those keeping score. The backlight could do with a little more brightness but the contrast with the LCD numbers is quite good. The wiring might be a tad confusing as it does not include a diagram plus when you get into the installer menu, it is not clear on what sort of furnace or HP you should select. For instance it allows you to choose a gas furnace. But what is a GA1 vs GA2 in the options?A plus is the separate cycle rate for both heat and cool. you get 3 settings for each (fast Med Slow) and the corresponding degree swing for each.It can run off the C aka common wire from your 24v transformer and batteries for backup. This also has an early start function that you can enable or disable in the installer menu. What that does is call for heat or cooling before the actual set time so you can have the temp what you want it to be. For example, if you have heating set to 60 at night but say you want it to be 70 when you wake at 7 AM, system will come on early so that when you get out of bed, temp is already 70.I would rate accuracy as good and appearance is slightly modern I guess but not too techie looking.

Instructions are a joke
Too difficul to setup

Horrible Documentation
decent enough units I guess but inaccurate, vague and just plain wrong documentation. I also bought a similar unit (1F85U-22NP) which didn't even come with the manual. I specifically bought these two units for the "auro-crossover" feature. I found a manual online for the latter unit but it was equally inaccurate and vague as the first unit's manual.I eventually figured out most of the features by trial an error (lots of errors). I would really like these units except for the CRAP documentation.
