Worked great! I am happy to have saved my oil pan.
A shop had drained the oil when they did a service repair to my car. Next time I did the oil change myself, I discovered that the threads were pretty damaged and in fact came out when I removed the drain plug. The shop had put a heli coil on the drain plug. So anyways when I put the drain plug back in, it didn't have enough oil pan threads anymore to grab onto and fully tighten. This kit saved the oil pan. I was nervous about cutting new threads 1mm larger but I went for it and things turned out great. Several reviews say that folks have had leaks from the drain plug when all was done. Thankfully this was not my case. The drain plug went in nicely, cinched tight, and it's all dry around the drain after filling and driving the vehicle. This kit was well worth it in my case.

Tap good, plugs suck
Tap worked great and let me expand my 12mm oil plug to a m13 x 1.5 thread. Problem is the new oil plugs only have a very short grip length and are really just a bolt, no flared head for proper sealing. now i have to find a m13 oil plug which is not really a standard size.

Worked perfectly on a BMW - some tips
This item worked perfectly when I stripped out my 12 X1.5 oil plug on my 2014 BMW X5 with an aluminum oil pan. I purchased a 13 X1.5 for my application. Here are some tips to get it to work right. 1: When you run the tap into the stripped hole, do not drill anything out. It will work, but you have to push it a little forcefully to get it to start. Once it is started, do not push it all. 2: when you are running the tap through, make sure there is about a cup of oil in your oil pan and it is dripping out slowly. This will carry the aluminum chips outside so they will not stay in the oil pan. 3: Do not use a ratchet or pliers or power or anything single handed. Use a tap wrench that has handles on both sides. It is imperative that you put this in perpendicularly, so the bolt will seat perpendicularly, and you will not have any leaks. 4: When you run it in, advance about a half turn, and then go backwards about a quarter turn, and then advance another half turn and go backwards, and so on until you are all the way in. This will allow you to clear the chips so they come out with the dripping oil. 5: when you put the new bolt in, use a torque wrench. 6: The reason they give you six bolts is so every time you change the oil use a new bolt. This is because the crush washer is single use only.

Worked great
Worked great! My 72 year old mother took her Rav4 in for an oil change and came back with a leaky plug covered in blue loctite 😠 The threads were so stripped that I bought this kit, retapped new threads and installed the larger oil plug. No more oil leak! Due to the position of the drain plug, I wasnt able to use a standard T handle to grip the Tap but I was able to use a similar sized socket to fit the tap into and and wrench it in.

Very pleased with the results!
I recently used the **M15 X 1.5MM Oil Drain Plug Thread Repair Tool Kit SF0087C** on my 2005 Honda Odyssey, and I’m very pleased with the results! The oil drain plug threads had completely come out after 20 years and 150,000 miles of oil changes. I watched a YouTube video that showed how to use the original bolt to draw out the old threads. With a short 4-inch ratchet and a 12-point socket, I carefully turned the bolt one full turn in and then backed it out a quarter turn to keep things clean. Instead of using the aluminum washers that came with the kit, I chose copper crush washers, which need less torque and help prevent future thread issues. Overall, I definitely recommend this product!

Good repair kit for striped oil drain plug
It was simple to repair BMW X5 (F15) stripped oil drain plug using this kit. Even with 5k OCI there are enough plugs for 30K oil changes. I don't have to use new plug every time, but since I cannot find crush washer for this particular size plugs, I'll just use new plug with the washer these plugs came each oil change. If I won't be able to find the washers, I'll just buy another set in the future, since price (so far) is not prohibitive for the entire kit. Before installing make sure to have t-handle with jaw opening 1/4 in. -1/2 in. (6mm-14mm). I got one from local HF store for $19. Also have some bearing type grease (nothing expensive. any cheap grease will work). Liberally apply the tap to collect any metal particles and shavings. I used empty windshield washer containers with the tops cutoff to collect old oil. Do not drill (thanks to one of the customer's review for telling not to drill). Just use the tap to make new thread. insure that the tap is perpendicular to the surface of the oil drain. Remove tap couple of time to wipe off grease with shavings and apply new grease. Make sure tap goes through beyond it's conical end. Use old oil you collected in any clean container to dump it back into the engine to wash off any contaminates that may be left behind. You should not have issues with contaminants if you were using grease. You can use any cheap fresh oil if you are not sure that your old oil is not contaminated by the container you used. If you do not have torque wrench, do not overtighten to plug, Or you'll strip the thread again. To tighten the plug use anything with the shortest handle possible. For my car I need only 18 ft. lb. or 25 Nm. And I think it's a standard for majority of the cars. My wrench was set to ~16 ft.lb., and the plug is dry - no oil leak, drips, drops. Good luck.
