High Quality and Flexible
I have several VIAIR pumps. Unfortunately the last one was stolen. I believe this one will be my favorite for the following reasons. Number one is the auto shut off. Many units require that you return to the pumps to shut it off. In the past I would over fill the tire, return to the pump, shut it off and then return to the tire and reduce air to the proper pressure. Doable but extra effort. Number two is the continuous run cycle. Many units can run for 15 minutes then require a 30 minute cool down time. While maybe not important to some why risk it and have the auto thermal protection shut it down and wait 30 minutes. As an added bonus I suspect to get the continues run time the rpms on the motor have been reduced and the unit is pretty quiet. Number three the supplied air gun has a bleed off button which allows you to reduce air pressure easily if you over fill. Number four the unit comes with two hoses, the extension for dully tires and the air gun with gage so you are ready for most anything. Number five the whole package is small enough to fit under most SUV's back seat. It is high quality and not cheap like some you see in some discount stores and gives you a "get to the tire store" back up as well as avoids you having to locate a gas station with an air pump, chunk in quarters and hope it works for a simple air top off. About the only downside I can see is because the gage goes to 170 if you routinely fill passenger 32 LBS tires you may want to add a smaller scale gage for a bit more accuracy. My package also came with the screw on valve connection. Very solid but if you do a lot of tires the "flip down" one would be quicker. It is available separately. Note the hoses I got were black which I prefer.

Fantastic for High Pressure Trailer Tires
Ordered it to put air in my boat trailer tires, they are large 16" that run 80-90 psi, have always had trouble getting them filled, you can't get the trailer into most air hoses, and even if you do they don't have the pressure. Hooked this thing up, you turn it on, it comes up to pressure and shuts off, then squeeze the trigger to put air in and it kicks right off, was able to bring the tires up to 90 psi in just a few minutes each. Not starting from scratch, they already had just over 80 psi, but it is always that last bit to get them up to 90 that is so hard. This thing just pumped them right up, it is very quiet, doesn't vibrate around at all, just sits there and hums and away you go. It gets warm, but it wasn't excessive, just a few minutes and I could put it back in the case. I will say the case is very nice, holds the compressor and two extension hoses that are high quality, but it takes up a lot of room. Not sure how to best carry it in my truck.

Great Portable Pump- Highly Recommend
I originally purchased one of the lower-cost portable air pumps (100psi, 10-minute runtime before overheating). I figured it would be able to handle filling one 275/60R20 pickup truck tire. I was wrong. After 10min of running, that pump went from 15psi to only 34psi with a target of 40psi. Even the airline was too hot to touch. Fail. Enter the VIAIR 450-P that arrived today. Same tire, starting at 15psi... it took the VIAIR pump just over 2 minutes to inflate the tire to 40psi. Immediately after, I filled the other three tires from 35psi+/- up to 40psi, each very quickly. The pump body never raised in temperature. The entire package seems to be good quality. I was a little worried that the coiled airlines were too rigid, but they're not. With the pump at the front of the (Crew Cab) truck and hooked to the battery (truck running), 1 airline easily reached to the rear tires. The VIAIR pump is much quieter than the my cheaper pump. The auto turn-off when you're not filling a tire is a nice feature. The air gun also has a button to release air, if you go too high. The bag has extra room for tire plugs, etc. Mine also came with 2 extra air filters for the pump. There's a few comments about having to hold the trigger while filling the tire. True, but the 450-P pumps up the tire fast enough that it really isn't an issue (for me). The air gauge is off about 1-2psi, but it's not built to comply to rigid engineering standards and regulations. It's an air gauge for the masses, and mine was very close. Except for the price, I can't knock this VIAIR pump... but I'm willing to pay for the proper tool for the job.

Great Product
Only product we have had that could hold up to inflating our motorhome tires. All the others burn up; and you are lucky if you get one tire aired before it goes. I have been using this now and it works great. I can do all the tires at one time if need be. The gauge is off when filling; but I have been able to figure the 7 lb difference. Also, not happy with not being able to run it on A/C or shore power. You have to use the battery; and I am not a fan. If I had the option of using shore power as well as a the battery; I would give it 5 stars. Best on the market that I have found so far.

Powerful, Sturdy, Reliable
I purchased this hoping it would be strong enough to air the tires up on my motorhome. I have a 40' diesel pusher with a tag axle, so 8 tires with a 135psi rating. I was impressed with the construction when I took it out of the box. Its built very sturdy. from the carry case to the hoses to the compressor itself. Everything is built with quality parts. The first time I used it I was able to pull my pickup in front of my motorhome, connect it to my truck battery (Leave your vehicle running while inflating tires) Set the compressor un the ground and connect the hoses. They reached down both sides of my RV without me having to move anything. I connected it to my tires and watched it work. My tires were at approximately 83 psi. So fairly low. It took about 10 minutes per tire max to inflate the tires. For me, that's not long at all. The compressor ran great, filled all my tires up without a single issue. One thing to note. It does get very hot so make sure you don't touch the metal until its had a chance to cool off. I'm very impressed. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a quality inflator without the bulk of a storage tank.

When we bought our Ford F-350 Dually and a fifth wheel trailer, I bought a CAD$80 (~USD$60) dual 12/120v air tire inflator. The first time we needed to use it, we found out how slow it was. We needed to raise the air pressure in our four big trailer tires from about 90 psi to 110 psi, with one tire at just 57 psi. It took nearly a half hour to do this, and was so slow that I settled for just 100psi--our friends were waiting for us to finish before we left the meeting point and headed on our way. I was determined not to repeat that frustrating experience. My next purchase was a much faster 12v tire inflator for about CAD$150 (~USD$112). It was much faster and certainly addressed the frustration problem. However, after about an hour's total use, the plastic part that clamps on the valve stem blew off the end of its hose. I was able to get a free replacement under warranty, but after a mere half-hour of use, that one started blowing its fuse every time I used it, rendering it useless. So, I decided that I had to find one that was highly rated and would last. After my experiences with these other ones, I was willing to pay for a good quality tire inflator. Well, the Viair 450P-RV is exactly what I was looking for. It comes with all the attachments you need. It has a long coiled hose and a second extension coiled hose so that you can have the compressor near the front of the truck or trailer to reach the battery in either one yet still be able to reach back to the tires. I was even able to use the battery in my truck and reach all the way back to the trailer tires on our 36-foot fifth wheel. Overall, we're very happy with it. One caveat--we've only got about an hour's use on it so far. From all the reports I've read, it's very reliable so I'm not worried about that at all. However, I can't personally testify to its longevity. A great product, and I really wish we'd bought it much earlier!

I didn’t really want to spend this much money on an air compressors for tires but it’s worth it not to have to drag truck and camper into tight places to fill tires you can just do it before you hit the road. Deff a must have.
