Technivorm Moccamaster KBGV Terracotta

This is the second Moccamaster coffee maker I purchased. My original unit that brewed the best coffee for over eight years was given to a friend who always loved my coffee. This Coffee maker his constructed entirely of metal and uses copper heating elements. There are plastic parts for the lids and hopper. The Moccamaster does not have a bunch of controls and un-asked for options to deal with. It uses the KIS philosophy: Add water and coffee and turn it on. It has two high quality mechanical switches. A switch to turn to start the brew, and a switch to select between high temp and normal temp warming after brew. This coffee maker will not cause an overflow with coffee grinds ever! I highly recommend this great coffee maker.

CHANGED REVIEW. Originally I said to BE CAREFUL. I said: “This product is $360 and should work near flawlessly every time. When it does work, it works great, but unfortunately on more than one occasion the filter clogged up and coffee spills all over the counter. This has happened several times and again happened today. It appears to be a flawed design in the filter mechanism. The manufacture should lower the price of their coffee maker by at least $100. In the video I show how it’s supposed to work. Prior to time taking the video all it would do is barely drip out, and the filter basket was full of water-mixed coffee. I had to manually empty all the water out and make another pot. It wastes coffee and it waste time. Admittedly it doesn’t happen every week but it’s happened often enough that it’s beyond frustrating. We’ve owned this coffee maker for seven months and during the seventh month period this is the third time the coffee make malfunctioned. That may not seem like a lot, but it is frustrating in the morning when you’re trying to get a good cup of coffee and you have to clean up a mess because the coffee maker is flawed. I’d be giving this review one star if the coffee maker did malfunction more often. But because it has worked very good most of the time I’m giving it three stars. I’d actually give it 2 1/2 if I could.” My review changed to 4 stars because we discovered that you must use the proper grind of coffee. If the grind is too fine it might clog up the water flow. If the grind is too course, it slows down the water flow. We found a perfect mixture of some fine ground coffee (espresso grind) and a medium grind, lightly mixed together and not packed too tightly in the filter container. This could be resolved by the manufacturer changing the design a little bit, but we figured out a solution on our own and are happy with our coffee machine. I’ll try to add some pics of the mixture we use.

What a beautiful coffee machine! I went from a keurig to this because I am drinking about 4-5 cups a day which is a lot of coffee pods so I decided to switch over to a pot. I’m not gonna lie I stumbled upon this one because I love the terracotta color, I have accents everywhere in that color so when I saw this I knew I was going with this one lol but I am very pleasantly surprised the taste is completely different! I’m using the same coffee as was in my pods but tastes more bold? Maybe more flavorful? I’m not sure how to explain it, it tastes like a more expensive cup of coffee I guess, which for the price it should taste like an expensive cup of coffee lol I’m hoping to have this for a while it seems like it will hold up well. I love the simplicity of it. I hate coffee machines with Bluetooth and 20 different buttons, my keurig had all that nonsense and I never used any of it. It brews a lot quicker also than my keurig which also nice! And the size of this is actually so compact! It’s probably half the size of my keurig which in the photos it looks big but it’s not at all, it’s very small it takes up hardly any counter space I love it! my keurig looked so bulky and kinda an eye sore. I definitely plan on keeping it, though my Amazon driver did let me know some detergent had spilt on the package during delivery I thought it had just got on the outside of the box but it looks like it soaked through and some of the plastic pieces stink like chemically detergent which is grossing me out. I tried washing the pieces off so if that doesn’t fade away in the next few days I may have to return it but I will definitely be getting the same one I’m so far a huge fan of this coffee machine and I will update if I experience any issues with it

The coffee maker is beautiful, and the variety of color options is a nice bonus. It brews good coffee, but for the price I paid, I expected much better quality materials. The plastic parts feel flimsy and inexpensive, especially the paper filter holder, which really should not have been made of plastic.
