why $10 to ship a can?

Dear Dan,Universal Mold Release is considered a hazard to ship being as it is an aerosol can. It could also have to do with how far it is shipping. If you go onto our Smooth-On website and go to distributors you may find a distributor in your state or at least close to your state. How do people remove this from the cast part? From what I understand, paint or primer won't stick to the part if the release agent is present.

Release agent can easily be cleaned off with a little isopropyl alcohol and a toothbrush.

I have silicon molds and plan to cast with resin to make antler reproductions. Should I spray this inside the silicon mold for easy release of resin?

No. This is a silicone-based agent. If you use it on silicone molds, it will glue them together. You’re better off with something like Mann Ease Release.

Universal release agent is specially formulated for mold making and casting and is suitable for most liquid rubber and liquid plastic products. Releases molded rubber (polyurethane, polysulfide etc) from properly prepared models. You may need to seal porous models (wood, plaster, concrete) or certain modeling clay (including water and sulfur) with Smooth-on SuperSeal or other sealers. Universal mold release is effective in a wide temperature range from 40 degrees F to 500 degrees F. Features: When using silicone rubber, use SuperSeal only to seal model surfaces. Do not use the universal mold release. Universal mold release easily releases a variety of casting materials (epoxy, smooth-on liquid plastics, etc.) From a hardened rubber mold. Please use as soon as possible as this product has a limited shelf life. When used properly, the universal mold release improves molding efficiency for a variety of casting applications and actually extends the life of the mould. Adult supervision required. Keep out of reach of children
