great stitch talking plush.
This many moods Stitch is wonderful! he came well packaged, in a sterdy display box, and already in try me mode, which was quite funny, as getting him out of the box meant touching his belly or moving him and he'd kkept making sounds and repeating "ohana means family," I managed to get him out of the box with the help of scissors and a wire cutter to cut the big plastic tie that held him in place. the box is very sterdy as I said. I then did what I always do, test Stitch with the batteries he has in him, first sliding the switch on the battery pack in his back from try me, which is hard right on the battery pack behind the velcrowe on his back with Stitch turned onto his front, to on, which is hard left on the three position switch, the middle being off, yes he can be turned off. how do you know he's in full Stitch mode? he says "aloha!" otherwise he says nothing when you push the switch to the full right. press his belly in try me mode and he makes sounds and says, "ohana means family. patting his head worked in full active mode, as did squeazing his belly and rocking him. I am blind, so I have read the led eyes display moods, i'm not able to speak about those. the sounds are great though. he is a good plush, but the head is a hard plastic, as is always the case with these interactive soft toys so it seems, they have to house the computer somewhere. his body, arms and legs are plush. I patted his head, he makes various sounds, squeazed his belly , diffrent sounds and if you rock him like you would a baby, he will start snoring, I then left him alone to see what he would do, if Stitch is left alone in Aloha mode, he will complain, asking for more interaction, then get bored and go to sleep. very cute indeed. note, you can't talk to this stitch and have him answer you, which would have been a great feature. after testing Stitch, I opened up the velcrowe compartment at his back, I switched the switch on the battery compartment to off, middle position, and, with a phillips screwdriver, a small one, I opened up the lid to change the supplied batteries for fresh high end ones. the screw holding the lid in place is in a clearly defined resessed hole on the top left of the battery cover, and does not come out of the lid, so you don't lose it. carefully undo the screw by turning it to the left after seating the correct bit head in gently. the screw will come out slightly, not fully, and then you can use another screwdriver with a flat head to lift the lid away, as getting a finger in there is difficult. the battery compartment has spring negative contacts, which is good. replace the batteries with three aa batteries, then hinge the cover back into place, two bottom lugs first, the screw at the top left. it will settle into place, then gently tighten the screw by turning to the right with the screwdriver, though don't overtighten, turn a little tight, then turn back half a turn, all your doing is holding that compartment shut. slide the switch above the batteries to on, hard left, and Stitch should say, "aloha!" you can then close the velcrowe fastening and play with Stitch some more.
