does it creat a layer like nail polish? does it need removing with nail polish remover?

No it does not create a layer like nail polish. It is applied to the nail tip not the entire nail. There is a Mavala clear coat but this is not the same produc. This product is absorbed into the nail it does not need to be removed. Follow the instructions . You only need to use it once a week and sparingly.
