How do I connect the device to Alexa or the Afloia home app?

I connected through the app. Turn on your Bluetooth the wifi signal is to the far right on the purifier

Is this meant to be powered on 24/7, or is it only meant for immediate/periodic use to clear smells/odors?

I leave it on most of the time. It removes particles in the air which can cause smells but not necessarily for removing odors. The app for your phone tells you how much filter life you have.

Do you need a smart plug to operate with Alexa?

I had to do it this way because it would not pair with my Alexa.
