As far as canned cat food goes, Weruva's Paw Lickin' Chicken is probably one of the best around. Yes, there is a lot of gravy, but that's a good thing considering cats should be getting most of their hydration and moisture content from their food. In the wild, cats would be catching their food and eating it raw. Therefore, a raw diet would be the most species appropriate diet and the best for your cat. However, it isn't the most convenient or cost-effective, so I'd say this is the next best thing if you don't want to go raw. What I like about this particular flavor is that there are no veggies or grains. Cats are obligate carnivores and don't need to eat starches like peas, rice, corn, or potatoes. Their bodies are just not biologically equipped to digest these ingredients, so the fewer the better. Sure, cats can do just fine eating these, but it doesn't mean it's "good" for them. Just like not getting cancer from smoking doesn't make smoking good for you. However, while many canned foods claim to be "grain free", they're not "starch free". Fillers like potato starch or pea powder are still used. Dry foods are also pretty bad for cats due to low moisture and high fillers. I don't recommend dry food for cats at all, not ever, even the expensive brands. Lastly, this is the only brand and flavor of canned food I buy. However, I also feed my cat a raw diet that includes turkey and duck for variety. But of all the foods I've ever fed her over the last 7 years, this is a clear favorite. I've never seen her lick a plate so clean! She LOVES Paw Lickin Chicken unlike anything else. It's the only food that has her literally begging for more. Do your cat a favor and at least try it. If you can afford to feed your cat a raw-only diet, and can commit to that, then that's what I'd recommend. But if you would rather do canned out of price or convenience, then this is definitely the one you want. So glad I found it for such a good price on Amazon. I'll be back for more!

The ingredients are awesome, expensive but anything for the fur babies. They go crazy for it

I only started ordering this food probably summer of 2025 through subscribe and save. My cats really seemed to enjoy the food, the quality seemed good and there was lots of moisture and a decent amount of meat which is great. I only recently, a few months ago, stopped ordering it because one of my cats developed EGC (swollen lips....) a few months after he started eating this particular food. It may just be a coincidence but as a process of elimination (after having received steroid injection...to relieve the swelling..) I'm trying to determine if this particular foods formula (gums, thickeners...) and or the chicken is the culprit of the allergic reaction. I have read posts from other cat owners who have had issues with this particular food and this brand so time will tell. I will say I think this Weruva brand seems to be a great brand OTHER THEN they put fish in most of their foods. I won't buy this particular food again, but not because I don't think it is quality.

In my experience, this product is awesome times 1000 for cats with sensitive tummies, food allergies, etc. We have two shelter kitties, Siamese, from different shelters. Both have sensitivities, one more serious than the other. He developed bloody mucus stool and thin fur spots eating anything but the limited ingredient kitten food he had been eating at the shelter, so we put him back on it. When the kitten food wasn't the best option any longer (too fattening and he is older), we got him on a grain free potato duck kibble from the same maker- so far so good, at month 3. Every high end wet food we tried, however, was a failure until this one. The other cat, a total gobbler, LOVES wet food. Most of the high end limited ingredient brands still have carrageenan (sp?) in them. I am not a vet, but I have read some nasty articles on this (coagulative) additive. Maybe that is the issue that kept getting in our way with the other limited ingredient brands. I can't say. Weruva was one of very few I found that did not have it. I can't exaggerate how many hours I looked and looked, at online pet food sites, in all the local stores, at reviews everywhere. Our first buy was the small 3 oz or so cans, and they were mostly meat with a little broth, definitely more meaty with gravy than soupy with meat. In any case, both of my cats love it, and can eat it without problems. It's literally the cleanest wet food I have found, without boiling free range no hormone chicken and adding the needed kitty vitamins and such to it. I am extremely grateful to have found this food. If it remains like my first batch, this will be the wet cat food I will keep buying for the next decade. My little gobbler likes it so much I have to leave the room to fill the dishes before I put them down. This is the only wet food I have been able to give my cats without incident, and it's meaty and awesome. That was the small cans. Now, I am trying the larger ones.

I used to think people who paid for premium pet food were ridiculous, but this product has made me a believer. I have a rescue cat with a myriad of health complication and issues around food insecurity. He came to me with a mangled up face and a talent for eating his wet food too fast and then promptly throwing it up. Recently, someone gifted my a few cans of the 5 oz Paw Lickin Chicken which my rescue cat and my other (low maintenance) cat loved it so much I decided to order a 24 pack of the 3 oz. 3 weeks later, I think someone has secretly replaced my cats. I used to describe my one cat like petting a cloud and the rescue like petting a wire haired terrier; he is so unbelievably soft now. Also, his energy is like that of a much healthier, younger cat now. And his face, which was constantly crusting over with eye goop, snot, and ear discharge, stays clean. Iโm not a religious person, but this food is working miracles.
